Tony Award winner Lillias White, who plays Hermes – the first woman to do so – messenger of the gods, has extended her run in the Tony Award-winning Best Musical at the Walter Kerr Theatre.

Hadestown, the Tony® and Grammy Award®-winning Best Musical, celebrated both tomorrow’s first day of Spring and the beloved show recently achieving a milestone 1,000 performances at Broadway’s Walter Kerr Theatre (219 West 48th Street) with a surprise appearance by songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and director Rachel Chavkin. At today’s matinee, Hadestown will play its 918th performance making the musical the longest-running show in the 100-year history of the Walter Kerr Theatre. Hadestown began preview performances at the Kerr on March 22, 2019 and opened April 17, 2019.

Tony Award® and Daytime Emmy Award® winner Lillias White is set to take over the role of Hermes in Hadestown, the Tony and Grammy Award®-winning Best Musical, at the Walter Kerr Theatre, beginning on Tuesday, September 13.

Original Broadway cast member and one of the show's celebrated understudies T. Oliver Reid will assume the role of Hermes at the Walter Kerr Theatre starting Tuesday, June 14.

A private 29-hour reading of a new musical adaptation of The Great Gatsby, written by the Tony Award-nominated songwriting duo of Nathan Tysen and Jason Howland (Paradise Square), with book by Kait Kerrigan (The Mad Ones) and directed by Mark Bruni (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical), will be held tomorrow, Friday, May 20 in New York City. 

Hadestown has released the news that André De Shields, Broadway's original Hermes, is set to depart from the award winning production on May 29th. His replacement has not yet been announced.

Beginning Tuesday, April 5, Jewelle Blackman will summon spring eight times a week as Persephone in Hadestown at Broadway's Walter Kerr Theatre.

Tony-nominee Amber Gray, who originated the role of Persephone in Hadestown, will return to the musical for Friday night's performance at the Walter Kerr Theatre.

Lana Gordon will play the role of Persephone in Hadestown, the winner of eight Tony Awards including Best Musical, starting Tuesday, February 22 at Broadway's Walter Kerr Theatre. Gordon previously starred on Broadway as Velma Kelly in Chicago and was an original cast member in The Lion King and is currently the Persephone alternate for Amber Gray, who originated the role, and as previously announced will play her final performance in Hadestown on Saturday evening, February 19.
