The Red Cup Theatre Company's debut production of playwright Dennis Kelly's DNA unfortunately does not gel as a satisfying story. A group of teenage mean girls and bullies cover up a murder of a fellow student to no apparent consequence or laughs. Hard to believe the playwright who wrote the book for the award-winning Matilda The Musical created these skin-deep, totally unsympathetic characters devoid of any compassion.

East West Players (EWP), the nation's longest-running professional theatre of color in the country and the largest producing organization of Asian American artistic work, continues its 50th Anniversary Season, Golden, with 'TAKARAZUKA!!!,' by Susan Soon He Stanton, directed by Leslie Ishii and choreographed by Cindera Che. This production is presented with community partners the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center and AARP. The production features Fiona Cheung, Michael Hagiwara, Joseph Lim Kim, Klarissa Mesee, Joy Regullano, Janelle Toyomi-Dote, Grace Yoo.

Psyche Productions, LLC in association with Greenway Arts Alliance present the world premiere of, PSYCHE: A Modern Rock Opera, book, music and lyrics by Cindy Shapiro (based on the Greek myth of 'Psyche and Eros'), with musical direction by Jack Wall, choreography by Janet Roston and directed by Ovation Award-winner Michael Matthews. PSYCHE: A Modern Rock Opera will begin previews on Friday, August 22 and will open on Friday, August 29 at 8pm and run through Sunday, September 28 at the Greenway Court Theatre, 544 North Fairfax Avenue in Hollywood.
