The cast of OKLAHOMA! showed the 2019 Tony Awards their take on Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic when they performed 'I Cain't Say No/ Oklahoma' during Sunday night's broadcast. The show won two Tonys during the show: Best Revival of a Musical and star Ali Stroker won Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical.

The stars were on their feet (toes, taps and standing ovations) on a warm Sunday night, May 19th, for the Chita Rivera Awards a?" an annual ceremony recognizing the very best in dance on Broadway, Off-Broadway and in film that honors icons and trailblazers while also nurturing future generations simultaneously. It could have been dubbed a?oeChita Rivera's Dance Salona?? for the presenters, attendees and honorees read like a Who's Who of Chita's friends, fans and fellow Fosse favorites, including hosts Ben Vereen and Anne Reinking.

Rodgers & Hammerstein's Oklahoma! has been visited by many stars this week. Seen in the audience and backstage were Rachel Bloom, Constance Wu, Patti LuPone, Beck Bennett, Samantha Bee, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jim Parsons and Carson Kressley.

Producer Eva Price announced today that the reimagined revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! will launch its North American tour at the Civic Center Music Hall in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in the Fall of 2020. As with setting a Shakespeare comedy in outer space or a Wagner opera in a subway station, director Daniel Fish's jaunty riff on Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II's 1943 classic Oklahoma! may not look or sound the way the authors imagined, but it's a lot more faithful to its source than other musical revivals that seem determined to rewrite history.
