Birmingham Hippodrome - the UK's most visited theatre - has today announced full details of its new season. From the best of the West End to the biggest names in international ballet, opera and contemporary dance, 2017/18 will once again see a world-class programme of live entertainment on the Hippodrome's famous stage.

The stage was set for vintage, red carpet glamour at Birmingham Hippodrome last week (Tue 7 - Sat 11 Feb 2017). Alongside the public performances of The Red Shoes, the city's premier theatre hosted a week of fundraising events and creative learning projects inspired by Sir Matthew Bourne's magical new staging of the classic Powell and Pressburger film.

Yesterday UK Theatre gave out awards to leading talents in performing, producing and theatre management throughout the United Kingdom. Sheffield Theatres' SHOW BOAT and FLOWERS FOR MRS HARRIS together took Best Musical Production, while Clare Burt picked up a performance award for the former and Rebecca Trehearn for the latter. Charlene James won Best New Play for CUTTIN' IT, and Paapa Essiedu Best Performance In A Play for the Royal Shakespeare Company's HAMLET.
