Chester Theatre Company (CTC) is bringing its 2021 season, dubbed Chester@Hancock, to the Berkshires this summer. All three productions will be staged in a large tent on the grounds of Hancock Shaker Village. Guests can dine on site, walk the trails, and, for an additional fee, tour the Village, as well at attend performances.

Chester Theatre Company (CTC) will be partnering with Hancock Shaker Village for the 2021 summer season. The three-show season will take place outdoors under a tent on the 750-acre grounds of the living history museum. This is a temporary change in location for the safety of audiences, performers, staff and crew due to restrictions caused by COVID-19.

Chester Theatre Company (CTC) has been awarded a $94,000 grant from the Mass Cultural Council, in partnership with the Executive Office of Housing & Economic Development. This highly competitive, state-wide program saw 424 applications, and awarded 183 grants totaling nearly $10 million. Grants ranged from $1,000 to $100,000.

Chester Theatre Company (CTC) has announced its first virtual performance, The Story of King Lear, a 50-minute telling of the Shakespeare classic adapted and directed by CTC Producing Artistic Director Daniel Elihu Kramer. The show will air at 7:00pm (eastern) on Thursday, August 27, and will be available for viewing through Sunday, August 30.

As a result of the Covid-19 crisis, CTC has made the necessary decision to cancel the entirety of its 2020 summer season which had originally been slated to run between June and August. The company, which celebrated its 30th anniversary last year, cancelled its first three shows previously. Now it is announcing that its fourth and final show, which was to be Tiny Beautiful Things by Nia Vardalos, will not be performed on the stage of the Town Hall Theatre. Citing concerns about the ability to ensure the safety of all involved--audiences, artists, staff, interns, and Chester residents--Producing Artistic Director Daniel Elihu Kramer says there are no plans for live, in-person performances this summer.
