American Theatre Wing Reschedules 2020 Obie Awards for Tuesday, July 14

The American Theatre Wing and The Village Voice have announced that the 65th Annual Obie Awards, New York's preeminent celebration of Off- and Off-Off-Broadway theater, are now set to premiere on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at 8:00pm EDT.

The American Theatre Wing (Heather Hitchens, President & CEO) and The Village Voice (Peter Barbey, CEO) have just announced that the 65th Annual Obie Awards, New York's preeminent celebration of Off- and Off-Off Broadway theater, will premiere on YouTube.com/AmericanTheatreWing on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at 8:00 PM EDT.  The prerecorded ceremony will be hosted by comedian, actor and writer Cole Escola (Hulu's Difficult People, FXX's Man Seeking Woman, Amazon Prime's Mozart in the Jungle), who will also perform with surprise special guests.

HCCC & Kinetic Present Dynamic Concert Inspired By Hurricane Harvey

Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (HCCC) and KINETIC present a free one-night concert inspired by the solo exhibition, Nathalie Miebach: The Water Line, featuring work by the contemporary basket weaver and sculptor that focuses on the major hurricanes of 2017: Harvey, Irma, and Maria. Fascinated by two narratives generated by every disaster--one based on science, encompassing temperature, wind and pressure gradients, and one based on human experience--Miebach translates information from these storms into graphic music scores, large-scale woven installations, and sculptures. As part of the artist's Weather Score Project, The Water Line Concert will feature two new compositions, inspired by Hurricane Harvey, by Houston composers Shane Monds and Kyle Rivera, as well as existing compositions by Matthew Jackfert and Harrison Ponce, based on other hurricanes. Miebach will be present to speak about her work in the exhibition and her collaborations with various composers.

The black-tie evening, which will also celebrate theater producer Fran Weissler for Visionary Leadership in American Theater, will take place on Monday, November 5, 2018 beginning at 6:30 p.m. in New York City at The Plaza (768 Fifth Avenue).
