The Off Broadway Alliance, the organization of Off Broadway producers, theaters, general managers, press agents and marketing professionals, presented the 6th annual Off Broadway Alliance Awards on June 21st at Sardi's, honoring outstanding achievement in Off Broadway theatre for the 2015 - 2016 season. Honorees were on hand to receive their awards and Anne Jackson & Eli Wallach, Anne Meara, and Elizabeth Swados were posthumously inducted into the Off Broadway Hall of Fame. The world premiere of the orchestral version of Raphael Mostel's THE TRAVELS OF BABAR: RETURN TO THE LAND OF ELEPHANTS will be presented by the Orchestre symphonique de Montreal, conducted by Dina Gilbert, on Sunday, May 15 at 1:30pm at Maison symphonique de Montreal, and narrated in French by actors Sophie Cadieux and Pierre Brassard.

During the 2016 OSCARS which aired last night on ABC, actor and Oscar winner Louis Gossett, Jr. introduced the In Memoriam tribute as Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters performed The Beatles hit 'Blackbird.'

George Street Playhouse today announced the cast of Laura Eason's Sex With Strangers, which runs March 8 through March 27 at the New Brunswick theatre.  Kyle Coffman (Newsies, West Side Story on Broadway) will portray young, brash writer Ethan Kane; JoAnna Rhinehart (TV's Elementary, Damages) will play novelist and teacher Olivia Lago.  The production will be helmed by George Street Playhouse Artistic Director David Saint.

? New Brunswick's George Street Playhouse celebrates the end of another successful season on Sunday, May 22, with its Annual Gala Benefit.  As part of the celebration, the Thomas H. Kean Arts Advocacy Award will be conferred upon The Actors Fund and its President and Chief Executive Officer, Joseph P. Benincasa, by the former Governor himself.  The inaugural award was given to Governor Kean in 1990 and was named in his honor to pay tribute to an individual, corporation or foundation whose dedication to the arts enhances the cultural life of the citizens of New Jersey.

Joan Raffe, Jhett Tolentino, and Douglas Denoff announced today that two time Tony Award-winner Joe DiPietro's 'delightfully deceitful' comedy, Clever Little Lies, will play off-Broadway's Westside Theatre Upstairs (407 West 43rd Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues), following critically acclaimed, sold-out runs at George Street Playhouse in 2013 and Guild Hall last summer. Starring Emmy, Grammy, and Golden Globe Award-winner Marlo Thomas and direction by David Saint, Clever Little Lies will begin previews on Friday, September 18th for an exclusive limited engagement through January 3rd, 2016. The official opening night is set for Wednesday, October 14th.

A panel of nationally recognized judges, including Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award-winner, Rita Moreno; choreographer and Broadway dancer Michael Balderrama; director Michael Donovan; and producer, director and choreographer Andy Ferrara, announced the 2015 winners of The Rita Moreno California High School Musical Honors - formerly called The California High School Musical Honors - at San Jose's Center for the Performing Arts. Sponsored by Children's Musical Theater San Jose and Broadway San Jose, a Nederlander Presentation, this yearly regional awards competition recognizes outstanding achievement in high school musical theatre in the greater California region.

George Street Playhouse and Artistic Director David Saint are pleased to present Tony and Emmy Award winners DAVID HYDE PIERCE and DEBRA MONK in A.R. Gurney's classic love story, Love Letters, on the New Brunswick stage for one night only tonight, June 3 at 8pm. The modern classic two-hander will be helmed by GSP Artistic Director DAVID SAINT.

As BroadwayWorld reported over the weekend, Anne Meara passed away on Saturday. She was 85. Meara appeared in five Broadway shows and was Tony-nominated for her performance as Marthy Owen in ANNA CHRISTIE in 1992, opposite Liam Neeson and Natasha Richardson.

Ben Stiller turned to Twitter to pay tribute to his mother Anne Meara, who passed away over the weekend. The actor also thanked fans for their 'kind words' about the talented actress.
