Harrisburg Shakespeare Company Presents POE: MUCH OF MADNESS, 10/5-7

Harrisburg Shakespeare Company will present "Poe: Much of Madness" which will run Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, October 5 - 7 at 7:30 p.m. Performances will be held at Gamut Classic Theatre on the Third Floor of Strawberry Square, Downtown Harrisburg.

Emmy, Grammy and Tony Award-winning actress Cynthia Nixon will join soprano Lisa Delan and pianist Kristin Pankonin in an evening that features Gordon Getty's The White Election, a song cycle based on the poetry of Emily Dickinson. Ms. Nixon will read selections from Emily Dickinson's letters. The event will take place on Thursday, April 19, 2012, at 7:30 p.m. at The Stanley H. Kaplan Penthouse (Samuel B. & David Rose Building, 70 Lincoln Center Plaza, 165 West 65th Street, Manhattan).

"The Tell-Tale Heart," "The Raven" and "The Cask of Amontillado" are just three of Poe's works getting a dramatic makeover at the Children's Theatre of Charlotte's latest production, March 9-24. Tickets start at $14, and while the show is family friendly, the suggested audience is kids 11 and older.

GPR Records to sponsor Haiku Twitter Contest In Celebration of POETIC LICENSE

GPR Records, the new CD label specializing in Broadway, classical, spoken word and children's music, is sponsoring a poetry contest that will take place on Twitter, called TwItsPoetic, to celebrate National Poetry Month and the release of their first CD Poetic License: 100 Poems by 100 Performers.

There has never been a spoken word recording that has included so many performers reading such a wide variety of poetry, each selection a personal choice of the performer. GPR Records is presenting this collection in hopes of inspiring audiences with a new appreciation of the spoken word.
