Cast Announced for Jack Thorne's LET THE RIGHT ONE IN at Darlinghurst Theatre Company


Darlinghurst Theatre Company has announced the cast of the highly anticipated Let the Right One In, which opens at the Eternity Playhouse on 6 October. Directed by Alexander Berlage (American Psycho) and based on the best-selling novel and film by Swedish writer John Ajvide Lindqvist, this spine-tingling vampire thriller of mythic proportions has been superbly crafted for the stage by Jack Thorne – TONY Award-winning writer of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, BBC’s His Dark Materials and the BAFTA-winning National Treasure.

The classic 1870 Jules Verne novel, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, has inspired a new adaptation by local Outcry Theatre founders, Jason and Becca Johnson-Spinos. The duo, who will also be directing its premiere with a youth cast, have created a brand new adaptation that reimagines the brilliant and strong-minded Professor Aronnax, the protagonist of the story, as a female character.     Aronnax joins an expedition to capture and kill a sea monster terrorizing the seas. She soon learns that the creature is actually an ingenious underwater vessel, the Nautilus, built and captained by the mysterious Captain Nemo. What Aronnax experiences on the Nautilus will open her eyes to a world she could hardly have imagined.

For Sydney Theatre Company's new production, director Richard Cottrell collaborates again with ARMS AND THE MAN set designer Michael Scott-Mitchell, costume designer Julie Lynch, and lighting designer Damien Cooper. Performances are at the Drama Theatre, Sydney Opera House, from 8 February to 2 April 2016.
