Northlight Theatre has announced that it has reached a significant milestone in its years-long pursuit of building a theatre center in Evanston with the purchase of property located at 1012-16 Church Street in downtown Evanston.

TimeLine Theatre Company is pleased to announce that it has selected HGA as the architect for the company's new home at 5033-35 North Broadway Avenue in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood. Once completed, the project-which includes renovation of a historic building as well as new construction-will house the theatre's future operations and support and expand its mission of presenting plays inspired by history that connect to today's social and political issues.

The property, which encompasses a five-story, 45,120-square-foot warehouse building plus a vacant lot near the corner of Broadway and Argyle, is planned as the site of a renovated facility to house the theatre's future operations and to support and expand its mission of presenting plays inspired by history that connect to today's social and political issues.

The San Diego Opera's production of Daniel Catan's Florencia en el Amazonas was premiered Saturday at San Diego's Civic Center. Much has been made of the influence the magical realism of Nobel-Prize winning author Gabriel Garcia Marquez had on Marcela Fuentes-Berain's libretto, but most of the magic is in Catan's music. In this production, the voices and staging added another helping of enchantment. What little magical realism there is in the libretto, compared to Marquez's inventive, often disorienting novels, was largely lost in the mix.

Lifeline Theatre presents 'YOU-NITE' for its 2014 Annual Gala Benefit. It's a benefit all about Lifeline's supporters and their favorite memories from our 31-year history. The Boys Room marks Shinner and Johnson's sixth collaboration-A Guide For The Perplexed, Four Places, The End of the Tour, Before My Eyes, all at Victory Gardens, and Tranquillity Woods for Steppenwolf's First Look series. The production runs January 21 - February 20, 2011 at the Victory Gardens Biograph Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue in Lincoln Park. The Press Opening is Monday, January 31, 2011, at 7:30 pm.
