Maryland Ensemble Theatre Presents VICTORY IS WITHIN OUT GRASP


Maryland Ensemble Theatre has revealed the first production in its 2020-2021 Season Of Surprises: Victory Is Within Our Grasp, a new original work to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the 19th Amendment. Featuring real monologues from the women's suffrage movement, compiled by Suzanne Beal, Julie Herber, and Gené Fouché and directed by Gené Fouché, Victory Is Within Our Grasp will be presented as a virtual 4-part series over the coming month. 

The Endangered Species (theatre) Project Presents The 2nd Annual FREDERICK SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL


The Endangered Species (theatre) Project presents its second annual Frederick Shakespeare Festival from August 15 to September 7th. The festival features: 'A Comedy of Errors' (Main-Stage), a teen production of Sense and Sensibility by Kate Hamill (based on the Jane Austin Novel), and staged readings from Shakespeare's famous love scenes.

Especially when the irritating, aloof, self-involved… tall, vaguely handsome, and impossibly aristocratic Mr. Darcy keeps popping up at every turn?

The Endangered Species (Theatre) Project Presents DIANA OF DOBSON'S


The Edangered Species (theatre) Project presents a fully staged reading of Diana of Dobson's by Cicely Hamilton. A Romantic Comedy of the 'Upstairs/Downstairs turned Upside-Down' variety. Playwright Cicely Hamilton was often compared to George Bernard Shaw and penned the lyrics to The Women's March. The production will play at the Centennial Memorial United Methodist Church on 8 West 2nd Street, in downtown Frederick, MD on October 14 at 4 p.m. and October 16 at 7 p.m.

TEN BY TENNESSEE Comes to Sky Stage

Maryland Ensemble Theatre's MET-X BRANCH presents the second installment of the Endangered Species Project with an actively staged reading of Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Rachel Crothers' He and She. Written in 1911, this early feminist's battle of the sexes drama focuses on He (Tom Herford) and She (Ann Herford), husband and wife artists whose marriage is put to the test when it is time to submit for a prestigious commission. He and She is often considered Rachel Crothers' most important play for its nuanced depiction of the choices faced by the New Woman of 1911. He and She opened in Boston in February of 1912, had a successful run on Broadway in 1920, and had a major revival in 1980 when mounted by New York's BAM Theatre Company.

"I'm so pleased to have joined an organization whose artistic leadership team is dedicated to collaboration and the promise of making theatre accessible for ALL" says Christine Mosere, MET's Managing Director. "In fact, in honor of our 20th anniversary, MET has lowered our ticket pricing to $20 for every MainStage production."

Rep Stage's Women in Theatre Conference Sets Date, 'Balance and Connection' Theme


The second annual Women in Theatre Conference has been rescheduled to June 3, 2017. The regional conference is an opportunity for women working in theatre and for college students exploring the theatre profession to share experiences and expertise. Sponsored by Rep Stage, Howard Community College Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center, and 4 Wall Entertainment, the conference will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Horowitz Center on the campus of Howard Community College.

New Musical Based on Life of Dorian Corey DORIAN'S CLOSET Opens at Rep Stage


Rep Stage, the professional regional theatre in residence at Howard Community College, will premiere a new musical, 'Dorian's Closet,' based on the life of legendary female impersonator Dorian Corey. Directed by Co-Artistic Director Joseph Ritsch, with book and lyrics by Richard Mailman and music by Ryan Haase, 'Dorian's Closet' runs April 27-May 14, 2017.

Rep Stage, the regional theatre in residence at Howard Community College (HCC), continues its 24th season with Jane Martin's "H2O," directed by Kasi Campbell. "H20" transports audiences into the reclusive, madcap world of Jane Martin's drama/comedy/love story about self-destruction, notoriety, and the dark journey to purity and salvation. "H2O" opens February 15, 2017, with a limited run through March 5.

Rep Stage Honored with Award from International Centre for Women Playwrights


The International Centre for Women Playwrights has honored Rep Stage with its 50/50 Applause Award, which is given to theaters that produce fifty percent or more plays by women playwrights in their 2015-2016 season. Rep Stage, the regional theatre in residence at Howard Community College (HCC), only produced work by women playwrights during the 2015-2016 season, including participating in the DC Women's Voices Theatre Festival. Rep Stage is among 107 theatres around the world to receive the 50/50 Applause Award.
