South Florida Symphony Orchestra's Sebrina María Alfonso And Jacqueline Lorber Receive Diversity Honors Award


​​​​​​​South Florida Symphony Orchestra's (SFSO) Founder & Music Director Sebrina María Alfonso and President & CEO Jacqueline Lorber were recently recognized for their efforts to transform lives by living authentically and advancing inclusiveness during Diversity Honors, the globally renowned celebration that benefits Harvey Milk Foundation and The Pride Center at Equality Park, exclusively hosted by Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood. The award was presented to the duo by Harvey Milk Foundation Founder and President Stuart Milk and The Pride Center at Equality Park's Board Chair Christopher Bates.

California Repertory Company continues its 30th Anniversary Season with Dear Harvey by Patricia Loughrey. Opening during LGBT History Month and on National Coming Out Day, October 11, 2018, Dear Harvey, pays tribute to Harvey Milk one of the first openly gay elected official in the history of California. Despite his short career in politics, Harvey Milk became an icon of hope. This year marks the 40th anniversary of his assassination.

NewFest To Present US Premiere Desiree Akhavan's THE BISEXUAL and Host Anniversary Screening of HIGH ART


Following the announcement of the full lineup of their 30th annual celebration of the year's best LGBT films, which includes BOY ERASED, RAFIKI, 1985, and MAKING MONTGOMERY CLIFT, NewFest has announced two additional premieres: the U.S. premiere of the first two episodes of Desiree Akhavan's new Hulu Original Series THE BISEXUAL, and the U.S. premiere of UNTIL RAINBOW DAWN. NewFest will also celebrate its 30th anniversary by looking back at cornerstones of LGBT cinema with two retrospective screenings, including the Legacy Centerpiece - Lisa Cholodenko's HIGH ART in 35mm print, celebrating its 20th anniversary (the film was also Opening Night at NewFest 1998), followed by a Q&A with Patricia Clarkson and Cholodenko, and a 10th anniversary screening of Gus Van Sant's MILK with Stuart Milk in attendance (Global LGBT Rights campaigner, Co-Founder of the Harvey Milk Foundation and nephew of Harvey Milk).

Original LGBTQ Musical SONATA 1962 To Star Five-Time NYMF Favorite Erin Leigh Peck


Award-winning playwright Patricia Loughrey and composer Thomas Hodges announce that five-time NYMF alum Erin Leigh Peck (Motherfreakinghood, Grease! on Broadway) will step into the lead role of Margaret Evans in their original LGBTQ musical Sonata 1962.The production, which will make its Off-Broadway debut this August as part of the 2018 New York Musical Festival's Next Link Project, was originally slated to star Becca Ayers who has had to step out of the show due to booking a Broadway contract.
