In Candlelight Dinner Playhouse's current production of Nonsense, things go awry after one of the Little Sisters of Hoboken accidentally poisons more than half of the nuns. In an effort to raise funds and reman stable, those that are left decide to put on a variety show for the community where things don't go exactly as planned.

Not every tale begins with 'once upon a time' just as they are not always a love story. Rather, a different kind of love - an equally important love - is presented. In Candlelight's Dinner Playhouse's latest production, Mary Poppins, the love between children and adults, whether it be between kids and their parents or a lovable, stern nanny, is the certain focal point.

Throughout musical theatre history, there have been many shows that have set a new standard for the stage. Among them are those that become classics of the musical theatre repertoire, such as Fiddler on the Roof, Carousel, and Candlelight's latest production, Man of La Mancha.

Candlelight Dinner Playhouse presents The Wizard of Oz, initially an adaptation of the 1900 book, "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz," by L. Frank Baum. This Royal Shakespeare adaption is perhaps the most well-known due to how closely it mirrors the 1939 movie starring Judy Garland. 

Sondheim.  A name which can instill both fear and awe in the mind of any actor.  Of the three shows with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine, Into the Woods has always been the most popular with theatres across the country, and also the most problematic. Many people would say the problem with the show is that it has a punchy first half, followed by a preachy second.  This is a problem with Candlelight Dinner Playhouse's current production of Into the Woods, running now through July 10th. 

The Addams Family has been playing BDT Stage in Boulder since November, but even though death is just around the corner for this show's run, it still manages to be everything but neat, sweet and petite. (Which is exactly what an homage to the classic family deserves.)

Today, February 12 at noon, the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities opens the children's theater production Charlotte's Web based on the book by E. B. White and adapted by Joseph Robinette. Charlotte's Web, directed by Edith Weiss will run today, February 12 to April 10, 2015.

Highlighting recipes, food, and change in the church, the regional premiere of Church Basement Ladies 2: A Second Helping is a celebration of the church basement kitchen and the women who run it. Church Basement Ladies 2 is dishing up laughs at BDT Stage (formerly named Boulder's Dinner Theatre) tonight, September 12 through November 8, 2014.

Tony-Nominated Director Randal Myler and multi-talented Music Director Dan Wheetman return to Lone Tree Arts Center (LTAC) to create a new vision for Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn after setting the bar high with Hank Williams: Lost Highway last spring and John Denver Holiday Concert in 2012. Returning to the roots of Mark Twain's classic American folktale, this production of Big River focuses on the talent and voices of the cast as they each become storytellers.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this fun-filled children's show and found myself laughing throughout from the adult humor sprinkled in the script.

On Thursday, February 13 at noon, the Arvada Center opens the children's theater production Lyle the Crocodile adapted for the stage by Kevin Kling with music by Richard Gray. The play is based on Lyle, Lyle Crocodile and The House on East 88th Street by Bernard Waber. Lyle the Crocodile will run February 13 - May 23, 2014. Performances are 10:00 a.m. and noon, most Tuesdays through Fridays, and some Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Ticket prices range from $8 weekdays and $10 weekends and holidays for reserved seating. Lyle the Crocodile will be Audio Described for the sight impaired on March 4 at 10:00 a.m. and noon and Shadow performed for the hearing impaired on March 5 and 6, at 10:00 a.m. and noon. Shadow- interpreted theater utilizes specially trained American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters to perform as 'shadows' on stage alongside actors. On Thursday, October 17 at noon, the Arvada Center will re-open the children's theater production No Dogs Allowed, written by Sonia Manzano ('Maria' from Sesame Street), music by Stephen Lawrence, lyrics by Billy Aronson and directed by Edith Weiss.

This show, with its creative design and wonderful cast was the perfect entertainment for the summer and a great night for family!
