Rhys Yates BIO
Rhys Yates was born and raised in a tough area of north-west London. He found solace in acting, first via the National Youth Theatre’s social inclusion programme Playing Up, an experience that gave him the necessary qualifications to gain a Bachelor of Arts in Acting from Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance.
While he made his screen debut in the bittersweet indie drama Common People (2013), it was in 2016 that Rhys’ talent began to shine through, landing roles in crime drama Stan Lee’s Lucky Man (Sky), historical comedy Plebs (ITV) and BAFTA-winning British soap EastEnders (BBC). However, he is perhaps best known for the character of Julius in the star-studded historical action epic Britannia (Sky/Amazon), co-created by Jez Butterworth. More recently, Rhys’ added Brit flick Postcards from London (2018), a quirky drama about five art-mad male escorts, to his filmography.
Rhys is currently filming Stephen Merchant and Elgin James’ new crime thriller The Offenders (BBC One/Amazon Studios), and you can catch up with him, later this year, in the new series of Silent Witness (BBC) along with series’ newcomer Jason Wong.

Boundless Theatre today presents a major revival of Judy Upton's Confidence. First performed in 1998 at Birmingham Repertory Theatre, Artistic Director of Boundless, Rob Drummer, directs the previously announced Tanya Burr in the role of Ella. She is joined by Anna Crichlow (Ruby), Vauxhall Jermaine (Edwin), Will Pattle (Dean) and Rhys Yates (Ben). The production opens at Southwark Playhouse on 25 May with previews from 23 May.

Boundless Theatre's Confidence at Southwark Playhouse feels a bit lacking in, dare I say, confidence. The first UK revival of Judy Upton's 1998 play has plenty of 1990s nostalgia, but still feels shaky.

Lace Akpojaro To Join Cast Of Judy Upton's CONFIDENCE
Boundless Theatre today announces Lace Akpojaro to join the company for a major revival of Judy Upton's Confidence. Akpojaro takes on the role of Edwin, replacing Vauxhall Jermaine who has left the company due to unforeseen circumstances. First performed in 1998 at Birmingham Repertory Theatre, Artistic Director of Boundless, Rob Drummer, directs the previously announced Tanya Burr in the role of Ella. BWW Review: OLYMPILADS, Theatre N16
Andrew Maddock explores a difficult family relationship marred by old issues and mental health in his new play. While Darren (Nebiu Samuel) believes he's going to beat Usain Bolt in the Men's finals, Simon (Rhys Yates) is dealt a heavy hand trying to maintain the ties with his estranged sister Abigail (Michelle Barwood) and struggling to support Darren. The picture of a dysfunctional family, Olympilads leaves the audience with a broken heart and a punch in the gut.
