Playing themselves with a minimal set design, the actors utilized an improv style packed with pop culture references to takes us through the big moments in history. I was especially impressed with their use of impersonations, accents, and physical comedy. They kept the show going at a fast clip, and I was feeling out of breath right a long with them. Comedy is hard physical work!

This festive and fun holiday comedy revue by Reed Martin and Austin Tichenor, directed by Alison Boole with Assistant Director Jeremy Palmer, and produced by Rhonda Yeager-Hutchinson by special arrangement with Broadway Publishing Inc., opens Friday, December 3 through Sunday, December 19 on Friday/Saturday at 8pm and Saturday/Sunday at 2pm.

The season includes five exciting titles, ThinkTank's International TYA Playwrights Festival, and collaborations with The Tampa Repertory Theatre, Stageworks Theatre, The Straz Center and Dark Door Spirits.

Shakespeare's long-lost first play, written when he was 17, is coming to Melville Theatre after being found in a treasure-filled English parking lot. 

Kentwood Players will hold open auditions for The Ultimate Christmas Show (Abridged), a holiday comedy revue by Reed Martin and Austin Tichenor, on Saturday, October 16th from 11am to 2pm and Monday, October 18th from 7pm to 9pm. Callbacks will be held on Thursday, October 21st at 7pm by appointment only. This is a non-equity/non-paid production directed by Alison Boole, with Assistant Director Jeremy Palmer, for Kentwood Players by special arrangement with Broadway Publishing Inc.Auditions will be held in person at the Westchester Playhouse, 8301 Hindry Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90045 with rehearsals to begin on Saturday, October 23rd.  Show run dates are December 3rd to December 19th, 2021, with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, Saturdays and Sundays at 2pm. 

Originally scheduled for the company's 2020 Season, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare: Abridged is a sharp, agile and hilariously take on the works of the Bard, all of which find their way onto the stage at one moment or another. So, yes, 75 characters from 37 plays, performed by 3 actors in approximately 97 minutes.

The African-American Shakespeare company is elated to announce what Artistic Director L Peter Callender is a calling a season of “splendor and renewal” featuring 4 productions, live-and-in-person: The Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abridged); Cinderella; The Glass Menagerie; and Richard II. There will also be a special streaming-only edition of Twelfth Night.
