Lakewood Theatre Company continues its 67th season of live theatre with Shakespeare in Love, directed by David Sikking, a romantic comedy, based on the award-winning screenplay by Tom Stoppard and Marc Norman. The story was adapted for the stage by Lee Hall with music by Paddy Cunneen and plays at Lakewood Theatre Company November 1 a?" December 8, 2019. 

Portland Shakespeare Project and Proscenium Journal present the fifth annual Proscenium Live Festival of New Work with two days of fresh plays. This year's festival takes place at Portland State University's Lincoln Hall, in the Boiler Room Studio Theater. All performances are free, no ticket reservations are necessary, and seating is general admission.

One summer day in 1974 in a pub in Belfast, Ian and Jimmy's lives changed forever. Now, at age 52, the men arrange to meet in the same pub where a horrific event occurred. After 36 years, can they see each other as anything but enemies? Is any amount of forgiveness possible? These are the questions at the heart of QUIETLY, Owen McCafferty's haunting play currently running at New Expressive Works care of Corrib Theatre.

Corrib Theatre presents Owen McCafferty's Quietly, directed by Artistic Director Gemma Whelan, a play that grapples with the carnage, consequences and hope for healing following Ireland's decades-long, bloody conflict referred to as the Troubles. The production features Ted Rooney, Tim Blough and Murri Lazaroff-Babin and runs for four weeks, April 13 through May 6, at New Expressive Works.

Fertile Ground 2018 is in full swing. And, based on what I've seen so far, this is the best year yet! Here are three of the shows I saw opening weekend.

Ellen Margolis's excellent PERICLES WET is a story about men taking what they want. Even more than that, it's a story about the people who know horrific things are going on and what they choose to do with that knowledge.

Portland Shakespeare Project presents the world premiere of Pericles Wet, by Portland playwright Ellen Margolis. Commissioned by Portland Shakes, Pericles Wet is a masterful adaptation of William Shakespeare's Pericles directed by Michael Mendelson. The show will run from December 1 to December 17 on Artists Rep's Alder Stage.

For its fifth year of offering Portland plays by contemporary Irish playwrights, Corrib Theatre brings these three gripping, politically relevant works: Belfast Girls by Jaki McCarrick, Lifeboat by Nicola McCartney and Quietly by Owen McCafferty.

Portland Actors Ensemble begin its 48th consecutive season by producing Shakespeare's Troilus and Cressida for the very first time! This hilarious, poetic work will be brought to life by some the best Shakespearean actors in Portland, Oregon and will be performed free of charge for the the entire community. Patrick Walsh, who directed Taming of the Shrew for PAE two years ago, returns to tackle another misunderstood classic.

There's a new theatre company in town - surprise, surprise - with a new way of doing things and two upcoming world premieres to prove its worth.
