Artisan Children's Theater will hold auditions for The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, a play by Barbara Robinson, directed by Trevin McLaughlin.

A new report released by the Rural Touring Dance Initiative (RTDI) has shown that taking dance into rural spaces can be a gateway to finding new audiences.

Rural Touring Dance Initiative brings dance back to rural venues with a programme of seven works from leading dance companies comprising new shows and returning favourites.

Kicking off the start of a new decade and celebrating five years, the Rural Touring Dance Initiative (RTDI) will tour a fresh selection of shows created by dance companies whose work has been enjoyed on both national and international stages and can now be seen in village halls and rural venues across the UK. The shows on offer have been selected by local promoters from 'menus' which enable them to choose the work that best suits their venue.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, a delightful family story about the true meaning of Christmas, will open at the Lakewood Theatre Company on Friday, December 13 at 7:30 PM. Performances continue on December 14, 15,  and 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, and 22 at 7:30 PM. There will also be matinee performances at 2:00 PM on Sunday Dec. 15, Saturday Dec. 21 and Sunday Dec. 22. After the opening night performance on Dec. 13, there will be a hot cocoa and cookie reception.

This autumn, the Rural Touring Dance Initiative (RTDI) brings a mixed programme of new and returning dance works to rural locations across the UK. Local promoters are invited to select the show that best fits these unique venues by picking a dance work from a bespoke 'menu'. For autumn 2019, the RTDI menu features a visceral duet exploring love and relationships, virtuoso multi-performer juggling and a moving portrayal of what it's like to be d/Deaf in a world made for those who can hear. The RTDI provides people living in remote areas with the opportunity to see innovative, fresh and fierce contemporary dance on their own doorstep. Along with giving people who might otherwise not see professional dance the opportunity to do so, the scheme gives audiences the chance to see highly skilled dancers perform in intimate and often unorthodox settings. The initiative is a partnership between the National Rural Touring Forum, The Place, China Plate and Take Art.

Total Theatre Awards today announced the 2019 shortlist. From the list announced today, a total of seven awards will be awarded across five categories: a?oePhysical & Visual Theatrea??; a?oeInnovation, Experimentation & Playing with Forma??; a?oeEmerginga??; a?oeCircusa??; and a?oeDancea?? at a ceremony to be held on 23rd August.

The 8th Summerhall Festival Programme is announced today by the year round Edinburgh arts venue. The programme is full of exciting, invigorating and fresh theatre, music and visual arts. Whilst the venue grows into its reputation for hosting new, avant-garde and personal work, it also begins to create partnerships with artists. The Eclipse Award, Fringe of Colour, Autopsy Award and a series of annual artist in residence positions see Summerhall actively supporting artists making new work and responding to our world.

This month, Bristol Old Vic welcomes ground-breaking companies Mr and Mrs Clark and Deafinitely Theatre into the Weston Studio to raise awareness and challenge perceptions of hearing loss and deafness.
