Seeing new musicals is something I relish. With no frame of reference, it allows me to take in every aspect of the show more profoundly. The Noteworthy Life of Howard Barnes at BDT Stage is the latest contemporary musical to be picked over by yours truly.

To some of us, waking up to learn our life has  become a musical would be a dream come true. To others, it would be a true nightmare. Luckily, there's a musical for that! Described as The Truman Show meets Family Guy, The Noteworthy Life of Howard Barnes drops our hero, an average man in his 30s, smack dab in the middle of a fantastical quest through all things musical theatre.

We may not have gotten snow just yet, but White Christmas at Boulder Dinner Theatre is the perfect way to catch the holiday spirit.

Some shows in the Christmas theatre canon are taken from classic stories such as A Christmas Carol, while others perhaps form a more original holiday tale. And then there are the special few that can only be described as "cult-classic." In A Christmas Story, we once again meet little Ralphie and his family as he hopes for a Red Ryder Carbine Action BB Gun from Santa - or at least his parents. From the infamous scene at the flag pole to the leg-lamp in the window for all the neighbors to see, this current production at BDT Stage has it all for those wishing to live out a live version of their favorite Christmas movie. 

From the songwriting team behind the smash hit Tony Award-winning musical Dear Evan Hansen and the Academy Award-winning film La La Land, A CHRISTMAS STORY, THE MUSICAL, brings the classic 1983 movie to hilarious life on stage! Set in 1940s Indiana, a young and bespectacled Ralphie Parker schemes his way toward the holiday gift of his dreams, an official Red Ryder Carbine- Action 200-Shot Range Model Air Rifle. An infamous leg lamp, outrageous pink bunny pajamas, a maniacal department store Santa, and a triple-dog-dare to lick a freezing flagpole are just a few of the distractions that stand between Ralphie and his Christmas wish. The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities will open its 43rd theatre season with the hit Broadway musical Mamma Mia! directed by Rod A. Lansberry, today, September 7, 2018. Mamma Mia! is based on the songs of ABBA, one of the most popular international pop groups of all time. It follows a young bride's quest to discover the true identity of her father and the story unfolds to hilarious consequence when she invites three men from her mother's past to her wedding. Since its premiere in 1999, it's been performed in over 40 countries, and every day, there are at least seven performances being staged somewhere in the world. The 2018 - 2019 Theatre Season Presenting Sponsor is Lutheran Medical Center.

The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities continues its 42nd theatre season with the Broadway musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, directed by Gavin Mayer, opening on Friday, November 17 and running through December 23, 2017.

Sherrie's just a small-town girl living in a lonely world. She took a late night bus to Los Angeles with visions of stardom in her eyes. Rock of Ages is a mix-tape compilation musical of some of the most memorable songs of the 1980s, including Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'," "We Built This City" by Starship, and Foreigner's "I Want to Know What Love Is," set to a story about pursuing dreams. Rock of Ages plays BDT Stage September 1 - November 11, with discounted preview performances August 25 - 31, 2017.

With direction by 5th Avenue Theatre Producing Artistic Director Bill Berry, this sultry stunner features Bob Fosse-inspired choreography by Bob Richard and music direction by Joel Fram.

Pierrepont Finch's journey from mail room to the top of the World Wide Wicket Company, all with the help of a cunning guide book. A sharp-witted send-up of the corporate rat race that will keep audiences rolling in the aisles, HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING is gracing The 5th Avenue stage for the first time. Rehearsals started this week at The 5th Avenue Theatre for the exultant classic musical, Rodgers & Hammerstein's The Sound of Music, the iconic show sweeping Seattle for the holidays. Boasting such beloved songs as 'Do Re Mi,' 'My Favorite Things,' 'Sixteen Going on Seventeen,' and 'Climb Ev'ry Mountain,' this production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's The Sound of Music will be presented as only The 5th can do, complete with a sensational live orchestra, stunning costumes, and incredible sets. Under the direction of David Bennett and with choreography by Trina Mills and music direction by Kat Sherrell, this musical will feature an exuberant all-local cast of fresh faces and favorite performers that includes Anne Allgood as the Mother Abbess, joining the previously announced David Pichette as Max Detweiler and Jessica Skerritt as the Baroness Elsa Schraeder, with Hans Altwies as Captain Georg von Trapp and Kirsten deLohr Helland as Maria.

The year is 1977 and Disco is the name of the game. Brooklyn is overrun with small gangs and poverty, but club 2001 Odyssey is the oasis that all the well-dressed dancing youths flock to. Inside the doors of the club, the rules change, and dreams are made and broken on the glowing dance floor. Arvada Center has taken on this regional-premier musical based on the cult classic film, and with its many challenges, Saturday Night Fever is a high-energy show that dazzles the audience with is spectacle and glam.

Rehearsals begin today for A Christmas Story, The Musical - the sensational hit Seattle can't stop talking about. After premiering at The 5th Avenue Theatre in 2010, A Christmas Story, The Musical spent two wildly successful holiday seasons in New York City and spurred a national tour.
