This October, the City of Frederick, Maryland, is set to become a vibrant hub of artistic expression and cultural reflection as Maryland Ensemble Theatre will present Angels in America.

The Cumberland Theatre will continue their 35th Main Stage Season with the tour-de-force comedy PERFECT WEDDING, which will run June 8th - 18th.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre's 24th Mainstage season brings absurdist comedy to Downtown Frederick with Meteor Shower by Steve Martin. MET Producing Artistic Director Tad James directs this laugh-riot, leading an incredible cast of comedic actors. Running March 25 through April 24, audiences are sure to find themselves doubled over in laughter and wracked with absurdist unease throughout the course of this night at the theater.

Maryland Ensemble Theatre will present their first feature film: Something Brilliant: The Rise And Fall Of The IllumiNation Cult. Available to stream through MET's website starting Saturday March 20, this original mockumentary directed by MET's Artistic Director Tad Janes and Associate Artistic Director Gené Fouché takes a comedic look at what became of the members of the IllumiNation cult featured in MET's 2007 original stage production: Something Brilliant Will Come To Us. 

Maryland Ensemble Theatre (MET) presents Pride and Prejudice. The outspoken Elizabeth Bennet faces mounting pressure from her status-conscious mother to secure a suitable marriage. But is marriage suitable for a woman of Elizabeth's intelligence and independence? Especially when the irritating, aloof, self-involved… tall, vaguely handsome, and impossibly aristocratic Mr. Darcy keeps popping up at every turn?

Talk about 'Freaky Friday.' Brett Abelman's new play 'Switch,' at Fringe Logan Arts Space, is more like 'Freaky Pride Weekend.' A straight D.C. couple matched up by their mutual genderqueer friend find themselves in the afterglow of intimacy having switched bodies and hence gender. The balance of the play is exploring the abrupt switch amid Pride Weekend and trying to figure out how or whether they should try to switch back.

Brett Abelman's Switch, running June 7th - 23rd at the Logan Fringe Arts Space, will open select show evenings with a short but mighty performance series Beyond The Binary.  The Welders -- Washington's only playwrights' collective devoted exclusively to developing and producing new work -- are excited to host a variety of DC artists as an entry into Abelman's comedy about body-swapping, belly laughs, and uncanny sex.
