Artisan Center Theater has announced auditions for Scrooge! The Musical. Book, Music and Lyrics by Leslie Bricusse | Based on A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Directed by Michael Brown. This timeless musical tale of the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, who undergoes a profound experience of redemption over the course of a Christmas Eve night.

20th Century USA will be performed before as live audience at San Francisco's Phoenix Theatre July 23, 30, 31, and August 1. MET Artistic Director Lewis Campbell directs. 

On the heels of its sweeping success at Theatre Calgary, the producers and creative team behind the musical The Louder We Get have released a new music video of the exhilarating song 'This Dance Is For You.'

Theatre Calgary's Artistic Director Stafford Arima (Allegiance, Broadway; Carrie, Off-Broadway revival; Altar Boyz, Off-Broadway), along with Solo Productions' Mary Young Leckie (Maudie, Mary's Wedding), have just announced the creative team and casting for The Louder We Get, based on the true story of Marc Hall, with book by Kent Staines, lyrics by Akiva Romer-Segal, and music by Colleen Dauncey.

Continuing our commitment to utilizing Calgary's rich acting and creative talent, this season will see us go on a journey from farce to greed, from a 'humbug' to  a prom, and from a prep-school to a meeting of legends. Our stage will be filled with shows that both resonate and delight, and will include a significant number of Calgary actors, designers, and play-wrights.

One of the most celebrated plays in Canadian history, MARY'S WEDDING by Stephen Massicotte, will have its first professional production in Toronto at Streetcar Crowsnest. A love story set against the backdrop of the Great War, this is an epic, unforgettable story of love, hope, and survival. MARY'S WEDDING stars Fraser Elsdon and Kate Ross, directed by Kent Staines, and is co-produced by Mary Young Leckie's Solo Productions and by Derrick Chua. It will be presented at Streetcar Crowsnest January 31 - February 16, 2019 (Media Night February 1).

Centenary Stage Company's family holiday spectacular opens this weekend with everyone's favorite orphan in Annie the musical. Annie opens Friday November 23 and runs through December 9 at the Lackland Performing Arts Center at 715 Grand Ave. Hackettstown, NJ. Based on the popular comic strip by Harold Gray, Annie has become a worldwide phenomenon and was the winner of seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The beloved book and score by Tony Award winners, Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, features some of the greatest musical theatre hits ever written, including 'Tomorrow.'

PROM QUEEN: The Musical runs for 12 performances only on the Spriet Stage from September 18 to 29, 2018.

Hale Centre Theatre (HCT) revealed that the new name of its one-of-a-kind, technologically advanced Centre Stage is the Young Living Essential Oils Centre Stage. The announcement took place in conjunction with opening night of HCT's latest production, Newsies, on Monday, June 25, in the Mountain America Performing Arts Centre in Sandy, Utah. As part of its commitment to giving back to humanity and the community, Young Living Essential Oils will donate funds and products over the next 10 years to the theater. Mary Young, CEO of Young Living Essential Oils, will also now serve on HCT's board of directors.

Baz Bamigboye of The Daily Mail has reported that Prom Queen: The Musical, the story of a landmark win for gay rights, will receive a public UK workshop this fall at Andrew Lloyd Webber's Other Palace Theatre.

The votes are in and this year's TIFF Film Circuit People's Choice Award winners have been selected. Of the films touring the country as part of Film Circuit, TIFF's programme bringing some of the best Canadian and international cinema to communities throughout the country, Maudie was voted Favourite Canadian Film and the groundbreaking Vincent Van Gogh biography Loving Vincent was selected Favourite International Film by thousands of Film Circuit voters.

The Grand Theatre is proud to officially announce that the 2018 High School Project will be the ground-breaking new production PROM QUEEN: THE MUSICAL, based on the true-life story of Marc Hall.  At an event held yesterday, Artistic Director Dennis Garnhum told attendees that the Grand has secured the exclusive rights to stage PROM QUEEN this upcoming season, marking the first time the Grand's High School Project will produce a new Canadian musical.
