First Stage will kick off its 2023/24 season with the world premiere production DREAM, QUICKIE! DREAM!, a story for all ages inspired by the life of Donald 'Quickie' Driver, written by playwright Gloria Bond Clunie and directed by popular Milwaukee actor/producer/director Dimonte Henning.

First Stage, one of the nation's leading theaters for young people and families, has announced the Artistic and Creative Teams for the upcoming 2023/24 season. The season will kick off on October 6, 2023 at the Marcus Center's Todd Wehr Theater with the inspiring world premiere DREAM, QUICKIE! DREAM!, based on the books by Green Bay Packer legend Donald Driver, written by Gloria Bond Clunie and directed by popular Milwaukee actor/director Dimonte Henning.

It makes for a most dynamic piece of theater. The ensemble cast, shrouded in black, are used to push props and people about the stage. Whether our heroes are catapulting through space and time or confronting an immense, pulsating brain, the use of physical movement and intense lighting effects help propel the story.

First Stage will fuel the imaginations of audiences young and old with their next 2019/20 mainstage production, A WRINKLE IN TIME, based on the bestselling book by author Madeleine L'Engle, adapted for the stage by John Glore and directed by First Stage Artistic Director Jeff Frank. The play explores the adventures of female protagonist Meg Murry with her brother Charles Wallace and their new friend Calvin O'Keefe. On a dark and stormy night, a mysterious stranger arrives at Meg Murry's home and she embarks on a wild, empowering journey of self-discovery. Joining forces with Charles, Calvin, Mrs. Whatsit, and many more, they travel through space and time to battle the forces of evil so Meg can rescue her father, save humanity and find herself. Overture Center for the Arts is proud to partner with In Good Company in honoring Veterans Day 2019 with a special Playhouse Gallery exhibit, "Veteran Print Project: The Transience of Narrative," and performance of "Ajax," which is supported by the center's Prelude program.

In a world premiere commissioned by First Stage and Oregon Children's Theatre, R.L. Stein's famous 'Goosebumps' series comes to stage life in Milwaukee at the Todd Wehr Theater. First Stage Associate Artistic Director John Maclay and the award winning Danny Abosch wrote the original book, lyrics and music to Goosebumps The Musical: Phantom of the Auditorium from one of more than his 62 books Stein wrote between 1992-1997. Stein's youthful horror fiction, often believed to be the second best selling children's series of all time, was created as he says so 'Children could use their own wit and imagination to escape the scary circumstances.'

In the 50th anniversary year of the award winning, animated television special, the live production A Charlie Brown Christmas captured the imagination of Milwaukee audiences this past weekend. First Stage presents a theatrical interpretation of the beloved holiday classic, adapted by Eric Schaeffer and overflowing with young voices, which continues to light up the hearts and laughter in Peanuts' fans since 1965.

Happiness and cheer come calling at First Stage with the debut of A Charlie Brown Christmas. The company's Artistic Director Jeff Frank had been writing this produciton on his own Christmas to-be-produced list in a continual effort to bring the1965 award-winning television special to the theater since he arrived in 1999. Only recently have the copyrights been released through Eric Schaeffer's stage adaptation, and Frank immediately seized the opportunity to warm Milwaukee's hearts and introduce a new generation to the world created by Charles Schulz. Charlie Brown, Snoopy and the Peanuts gang take over the Todd Wehr Theater beginning on Friday, November 27 for a superb holiday celebration.

Carthage College, a four-year, private college of the liberal arts and sciences in Kenosha, Wisconsin, will stage the world premiere of 'Up The Hill', a new work by Keith Huff, one of the television industry's most sought-after writers and producers, and one of contemporary theater's most prominent and exciting playwrights. The play will be performed today, Feb. 27 - March 7 at the Wartburg Auditorium in the David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Natural and Social Sciences, 2001 Alford Park Drive.

Words to describe the conclusion of First Stage's 27th season when the company presents a 50th World Premiere co-written by Artistic Director Jeff Frank and Associate Artistic Director John Maclay adapted from the classic series of mystery stories ghost writtne by Margaret Wirt-Benson in their play Nancy Drew and her Biggest Case Ever. Staged front and center in the Todd Wehr Theater, these three words, daring, dramatic and dynamic apply to the inventive theater company and their captivating new production featuring that famous feminine sleuth Nancy Drew.

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts previously announced national awardees for outstanding work from the regional festivals that were held January 8 through March 3, 2013. Individual awardees and a representative from each of the outstanding productions will travel to the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. for an expenses-paid trip to participate in the 45th annual Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF), today, April 15-20, 2013.

First Stage concludes its 25th anniversary season with DIARY OF A WORM, A SPIDER AND A FLY, a musical based on the popular book series by Doreen Cronin and Harry Bliss, today, April 13 - May 13, 2012 at the Todd Wehr Theater, Marcus Center for the Performing Arts at 929 N. Water Street, Milwaukee.
