A FATHER’S PROMISE, directed by Rick Korn and executive produced by Sheryl Crow, tells the story of professional musician Mark Barden whose life changed instantly when his son Daniel was murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary. Led by musician Mark Barden and artists Sheryl Crow, Billie Eilish, Peter Gabriel, Karen Fairchild of Little Big Town, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Nile Rodgers, Bush, Rufus Wainwright, Pixies, LP, Bootsy Collins, Old Crow Medicine Show, Halestorm, Rozzi, Sofi Tukker and more, the Artist For Action coalition is designed to drive people to volunteer.

The limited ticketed event was created as a celebration of unity in the fight against gun violence and will benefit Artist for Action and Sandy Hook Promise, a non-profit founded and led by several family members whose loved ones were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School. 

The Promise Band will help raise money to benefit Sandy Hook Promise (SHP), a national non-profit organization with a mission to educate and empower youth and adults to prevent violence in schools, homes and communities. The Promise Band is led by professional musician and Co-CEO of Sandy Hook Promise Mark Barden and band leader Jimmy Vivino. .

Today AARP announced its 2021 AARP Purpose Prize award recipients and fellows, the only national award that celebrates people 50-plus who are using their knowledge and life experience to solve tough social problems. Alongside the Purpose Prize winners and fellows, AARP is presenting Golden Globe award-winning actor and activist Glenn Close with an honorary Purpose Prize Award.

Westport Country Playhouse will present a series of special events, free-of-charge and open to the community, surrounding its world-premiere drama, "Thousand Pines," playing October 30 through November 17.  Written by Matthew Greene, and directed by Austin Pendleton, the production brings the national dialogue about gun violence to the Playhouse stage. Support for the community events is provided by a grant from CT Humanities.

The Ford Theatres presents legendary poet and performer Saul Williams, known for his distinctive marriage of "firebrand politics with metaphysical word play," joining with the adventurous Mivos Quartet, hailed as 'one of America's most daring and ferocious new-music ensembles' (The Chicago Reader) on Thursday, September 6 at 8:30pm.

Berkshire Theatre Group (Kate Maguire, Artistic Director/CEO) kicks-off it's milestone 90thAnniversary Season with theprovocative and humorous play Church & State by Jason Odell Williams (Handle With Care). Directed by Charlotte Cohn (founding producer of the New York Music Theatre Festival and Mainstreet Musicals), the four-member cast features Judy Jerome (Two By Tennessee) as Sara Whitmore, Keira Naughton (The Rivals; BTG: I Saw My Neighbor on the Train and I Didn't Even Smile) as Alex Klein, Graham Rowat (Meteor Shower; BTG: Arsenic and Old Lace)as Senator Charles Whitmore, and Andy Talen (The Tempest) as Tom/Marshall/Reporter/Security Guy. Performances begin Thursday, June 14, 2018 for a limited run through Saturday, June 30, 2018 at The Unicorn Theatre, The Larry Viber Stage (6 East Street) in Stockbridge, MA. Opening night is Saturday, June 16 at 8:00 p.m.

Long Wharf Theatre (LWT) and Sandy Hook Promise (SHP) will partner to offer a series of conversations and programs in connection with the theatre's production of Office Hour, by Julia Cho. The play runs from January 17 through February 11, 2018 on Stage II.
