The Django Festival All Stars, a group of renowned French jazz musicians, have wowed audiences in venues across North America including the Kennedy Center, New York's Birdland Jazz Club and Carnegie Hall, the San Francisco Jazz Festival, and the Newport Jazz Festival. 

Birdland Jazz Club and Birdland Theater are open this July with a full slate of nightly performances! At Birdland Jazz Club, catch Jay Leonhardt and John Weber Duo, Remy LeBeouf Assembly of Shadows Orchestra and more. Birdland Theater will present Tony DeSare, Maurizio Spista Organ Trio and more.

This November marks the 20th Anniversary of the Django Reinhardt NY Festival at Birdland Jazz Club, produced by Pat Philips-Stratta and her late partner, conductor Ettore Stratta. The festival, which began in 1999, has featured many talented musicians over the years who embody the gypsy jazz style of music by the great Django Reinhardt. Of these was guitarist Dorado Schmitt.

One of the top jazz pianists of the past half-century and an eclectic improviser who has long had his own sound and open-minded style, Kellaway has been featured on hundreds of recordings and written a countless amount of music since the 1960s. As is obvious from his most recent recording, a?oeThe Many Open Minds of Roger Kellawaya?? (IPO Recordings) he has lost none of his creativity, virtuosity, enthusiasm or willingness to stretch himself.

Instead of immediately following up his hit 2013 urban jazz album Bleu Horizons with a like-minded sequel, guitarist Craig Sharmat immersed in the music scene of his new adopted hometown of Santa Barbara and formed The Idiomatiques - which became the first Gypsy Jazz band in history to score a hit on Billboard's Contemporary Jazz chart with the track 'C'est La Vie.'

As the 40th edition of the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal approaches, the city gets ready to celebrate! It marks the return of music to the streets, massive festive gatherings and fun in the downtown core, magical musical discoveries and events you simply can't miss! In other words - a memorable Montreal summer!

'On this stage, you see…five gypsies!' Carrying forward the 'Hot Jazz' legacy of the great Django Reinhardt, this internationally renowned group features one of Europe's greatest musical families, guitarist/violinist Dorado Schmitt and his son Amati. The family is joined by virtuoso violinist Pierre Blanchard and accordionist extraordinaire Ludovic Beier, who 'played as great a solo on his accordion as Toots Thielemans at his zenith' (Downbeat). 'Dorado Schmitt's virtuosity was on full display via lightning-fast finger work, powerful strumming, wild sweeps across the fingerboard and astonishingly fast tempos. Schmitt displayed complete mastery of Gypsy jazz guitar technique' (Los Angeles Times).

The 'hot swing' musical style of DJANGO holds the crowd like a magnet. The Django Reinhardt NY Festival continues at Birdland for the 19thsuccessful year, Nov. 6-11. Legendary gypsy great Dorado Schmitt from the Alsace region of France returns with the joy of playing alongside his two sons Samson & Amati, guitar virtuosos of the style.   Dorado turns more and more to violin, taught to him by his father as in the gypsy tradition and is passing the torch.  The Band is 'on fire', ripping thru hot swinging numbers and will break your heart with a ballad,  influenced musically  by the top French Jazz violinist Stephane Grappelli as well as America's Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong.

The group's repertoire combines unique interpretations of Reinhardt classics with original compositions. Praised by critics at the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Kennedy Center, and NYC's famed Birdland, the Django Festival All-Stars were recently classified by The Wall Street Journal as "the best jazz show in town." The Django Reinhardt NY Festival is in full swing at Birdland, it's New York City home. Jean Django Reinhardt was a Belgian-born, Romani French jazz guitarist and composer, regarded as one of the greatest musicians of the twentieth century.
