Louis Cole’s album Quality Over Opinion (Brainfeeder) has been nominated for Best Alternative Jazz Album at the upcoming 66th annual GRAMMY Awards ceremony, scheduled to take place on Monday February 5th, 2024. 20 tracks deep, Quality Over Opinion was written, performed and produced on his own.

NYC Winter Jazzfest has announced the initial list of artists to be featured at the 20th annual NYC Winter Jazzfest! Please mark your calendars for January 10-18, 2024.

Following the success of Thundercat and Tame Impala’s “No More Lies” comes the release of a limited edition single sided 7” product. The collaboration is the first new Thundercat song in over three years, which arrives ahead of a huge string of tour dates for Thunder’s In Yo Girl’s City tour including North and South American dates.

Folks looking to catch Thundercat live now have the chance to do so at iconic venues from LA’s Greek Theatre to Red Rocks in Colorado. Prior to these headlining dates, the bassist will be performing with acts including Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Strokes, and The Mars Volta, before taking his show to Australia, Asia, and Europe later this summer.

From her upcoming album, Genevieve Artadi shares a new video, “To Tell How I Adore You,” the latest from Forever Forever. In January, she released the lead single, “Visionary” followed by “I Know” in February. This month, she’ll also perform a release show at the Echo, followed by a string of tour dates with her longtime musical partner Louis Cole.

With an accompanying tongue-in-cheek video that goes hard in an ‘80s hair metal style, “Visionary” climaxes with suitably epic solos from Pedro Martins (guitar), Chiquita Magic (synth bass), Christopher Fishman (piano), and Louis Cole and Daniel Sunshine doubling up on the drums. Quality Over Opinion was written, performed, and produced by Louis in his home studio with contributions from a handful of close friends, namely Genevieve Artadi (“my no.1 music collaborator”); saxophonist Sam Gendel – Cole’s friend for 17 years; pianist Chris Fishman; Nate Wood from the band Kneebody; Marlon Mackey; and guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel.

To celebrate the news of the upcoming album, he shares a new single, “I’m Tight.” The new single arrives hot on the heels of “Let it Happen” — “a timeless modern power ballad classic” — released earlier this month. In contrast, “I’m Tight” is a sleek, laser-focused Funk rocket, based on an utterly irresistible bassline.

Experimental Seattle jazz act High Pulp are announcing new fall West Coast tour dates, following the April release of their ANTI- Records debut album ’Pursuit of Ends.’ High Pulp are also sharing a new video for the album track “You’ve Got To Pull It Up From The Ground,” that features GRAMMY® nominated jazz trumpeter Theo Croker.

Continuing his mission to create deep feelings through music, Louis is the figurehead of an LA jazz-adjacent scene that includes Genevieve Artadi (with whom Cole co-founded the alt pop / electrofunk band KNOWER in 2009), Sam Gendel, Sam Wilkes, Jacob Mann, Pedro Martins and more. American Blues Theater has announced the cast of August Wilson’s Fences, directed by Monty Cole. The intimate and up-close production of the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama will play to a capacity of 60 people per performance from July 1-August 6, 2022, at Theater Wit,1229 W. Belmont Ave. 

The Colorado Music Festival (CMF) opens the 2022 season in Boulder, Colorado at the historic Chautauqua Auditorium on June 30, offering 22 concerts this summer and running through August 7, under the leadership of Music Director Peter Oundjian. John Adams is this summer's Composer-in-Residence, and the Takács Quartet are Artists-in-Residence.

Seattle Jazz collective High Pulp are sharing “Kamishinjo” today, a new track featuring Jacob Mann on keyboards. Later this week High Pulp will begin a run of West coast tour dates that will reach Portland, Seattle, Phoenix, Los Angeles in more. Then in April the band will hit the road with Jared Mattson of the Mattson 2 for over month of shows.

Bassist and composer Michael Feinberg will showcase his talents across the United States this April as he heads South for his upcoming tour.

Bass player John Snow returns to curate, music direct and emcee the March 4 edition of Odyssey Theatre Ensemble's live Music at the Odyssey series. Music at the Odyssey offers a unique roster of musical artists across different spectrums, from jazz to folk to R&B to pop, at the Odyssey's three-theater complex located in a converted West Los Angeles warehouse.

The Nasher Sculpture Center announces 'SCULPTING SOUND: Twelve Musicians Encounter Bertoia', a series of six historic concerts, from February 22–27, 2022, bringing together twelve master musicians to explore the expressive range of Harry Bertoia's sounding sculptures, in complement to the exhibition Harry Bertoia: Sculpting Mid-Century Modern Life on view at the Nasher January 29 – April 23, 2022.
