Danny Elfman’s official soundtrack for the forthcoming film White Noise has been released. Featuring 21 tracks, Elfman’s score serves as an ambitious and eccentric musical compliment to Academy Award-nominated writer-director Noah Baumbach’s latest project. Boasting an all-star ensemble headlined by Adam Driver, Greta Gerwig and Don Cheadle.
The 21-track project is comprised of collaborations and guest vocal features from a sprawling array of artists including Trent Reznor, Iggy Pop, HEALTH, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Zach Hill of Death Grips, Xiu Xiu, Squarepusher, Ghostemane and many more. With the help of his collaborators Stu Brooks and Berit Gwendolyn Gilma.
Alongside the song, Elfman has also shared an official music video. Produced by the cyber collective TRASH GANG, the video is a rabbit hole of monochromatic, manga-inspired animation that channels the track’s mesmerizing electronic glitches and breakneck percussion. The track is the newest taste of Elfman’s forthcoming album Bigger. Messier.
Comprised of collaborations and guest vocal features from a sprawling array of artists including Trent Reznor, Iggy Pop, HEALTH, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Zach Hill of Death Grips, Xiu Xiu, Squarepusher, Ghostemane and many more, the 21-track project brings the songs of Big Mess to life for the first time in a remix collection of his work.
Both of Elfman & Reznor’s versions of “Native Intelligence” and “True” are featured within the brand new collector’s edition box set of Big Mess, along with all 18 original songs from Big Mess and bonus discs containing additional unreleased reinterpretations and remixes of tracks from the album. Listen to the new single now!
Directed by Zev Deans (St. Vincent, Chelsea Wolfe, HEALTH), the video features artificial-intelligence-generated visuals created by Italian media artist Lorem and was produced using source footage of Danny that was run through a GAN (generative adversarial network). Watch the new music video now!
Filmed in Berlin, the video’s main character is played by Scottish transgender performer Shrek 666 who wears extensive makeup and prosthetics. The non-human form echoes the universal surrealism of life during lockdown. Elfman also appears in a few surprise cameos in the video. Listen and watch it below.
