R.U.R. Cabaret is a musical entertainment based on the 1921 play by Czech playwright, Karel Capek. R.U.R. is an abbreviation for 'Rossum's Universal Robots.' Capek is credited with coining the term 'robot' and introducing it to the English language.

The streets of Victorian England come to life as Oliver, a malnourished orphan in a workhouse, becomes the neglected apprentice of an undertaker. Oliver escapes to London and finds acceptance amongst a group of petty thieves and pickpockets led by the elderly Fagin. When Oliver is captured for a theft that he did not commit, the benevolent victim, Mr. Brownlow takes him in. Fearing the safety of his hideout, Fagin employs the sinister Bill Sikes and the sympathetic Nancy to kidnap him back, threatening Oliver’s chances of discovering the true love of a family. Mindbending Productions, the student theatre group of Washington and Lee University, opens the theatre season at Lime Kiln with the charming musical, The Fantasticks, on May 20th-23rd at 7:30pm. Theater at Lime Kiln today announced the winner of their diamond raffle, a yearly event associated with the organization's casino night fundraiser. Former Lime Kiln Board member Anne McClung of Lexington was awarded the $2000 ½ carat diamond, donated by Hamric and Sheridan of 11 West Nelson Street.
