Colorado Music Festival Announces 2020 Summer Season


The Colorado Music Festival (CMF) in Boulder, Colorado, isn't broadly known outside the state, but it should be. This summer, under the leadership of the recently arrived Music Director Peter Oundjian, the Festival will actually present more 21st-century pieces (16, including two world premieres) than works by Beethoven (13). That reflects Oundjian's commitment to presenting the work of living composers as well as music by masters of the canon. This is the first year of the Festival's five-year commitment to commissioning new works and presenting them in Boulder.

Jean-Efflam Bavouzet's 2019-20 Season Includes Bartók, Beethoven, Mozart, Ravel, and More


A schedule rich in variety and landmark recording projects is central to Jean-Efflam Bavouzet's 2019-20 season. The French pianist's chosen repertoire spans everything from the concertos of Bartók, Beethoven and Ravel to sonatas by Haydn and rarities by Debussy. Highlights include an extensive UK tour of Ravel's Piano Concerto for the Left Hand with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra (8-15 February 2020); a complete cycle of Beethoven's piano concertos with the Orchestre National de Lyon (19 & 21 March, 11 & 13 June); Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major with the London Philharmonic Orchestra (14 February) and the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra (8 June); and Debussy's Fantaisie with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (28 & 29 February).

World Premiere Of Michael Daugherty's TO THE NEW WORLD To Celebrate 50th Anniversary Of Moon Landing


In a program for the ages, Pacific Symphony is joined by returning guest conductor Jean-Marie Zeitouni and pianist Juho Pohjonen, who will be making his debut with the orchestra, for "A Space Odyssey." This space-themed concert will feature the world premiere of composer Michael Daugherty's "To the New World," a three-movement work celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing, along with Pohjonen's performance of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23, with Strauss' "Also Sprach Zarathustra" ending the evening.

Peter Oundjian Appointed Music Director Of Colorado Music Festival; 2019 Concert Season Announced


The Colorado Music Festival today announced the appointment of conductor Peter Oundjian as its next Music Director. He is the fourth person to hold this title in the 42-year history of the festival, which is held for six weeks each year at the Colorado Chautauqua, a National Historic Landmark at the foot of the rugged Flatirons. Mr. Oundjian led the 2018 festival as Artistic Advisor, and his appointment as Music Director was announced along with the festival's 2019 season, which runs from June 27 to August 3 and explores the legacy of Beethoven.

Pacific Symphony's 2018-19 season, which celebrates the orchestra's 40th anniversary opens on Thursday, September 27 with a program featuring American composer Frank Ticheli's "Shooting Stars," commissioned for Pacific Symphony's 25th anniversary and newly revised for this season's celebration; Ravel's "Bolero" highlighting musicians of Pacific Symphony as soloists on stage and in a specially commissioned anniversary film; guest soloist Olga Kern in Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3. Four Nations Ensemble Sets 2017 Series at Merkin Hall


For the second year, the Four Nations Ensemble will make its home at Merkin Concert Hall to present three programs of chamber and vocal music by Bach and his contemporaries, from Handel to Couperin to Vivaldi. For its 39th season, le Festival de Lanaudiere invited music lovers to discover some of the works that its founder, Father Fernand Lindsay, liked to hear and teach. Between July 9 and August 7, 2016, fourteen concerts were presented at the Amphitheatre Fernand-Lindsay, eight in churches throughout the region, and two at the Musee d'art de Joliette. In addition, there were four cinema evenings and five morning yoga sessions held outdoors. Nearly 53,000 people attended Festival events - a significant increase over the figure for 2015.
