Utah Opera to Present LA TRAGEDIE DE CARMEN This May
Peter Brook's 1981 “La tragédie de Carmen” (The Tragedy of Carmen) is more than a shorter, recut version of Bizet's “Carmen.” While it pares the cast down to four singers, accompanied by a chamber orchestra, and is filled with musical passages from Bizet's famous opera, La Tragédie is a nearly complete reworking of the story focused on the intense interactions and tragedy of the four central characters.

Hunter Theater Project Presents Isabella Rossellini In LINK LINK CIRCUS
Hunter College president Jennifer J. Rabb announced today that Hunter Theater Project will present Golden Globe Award-winning actress-filmmaker Isabella Rossellini in her one-woman, one-dog theatrical evening, Link Link Circus. The production will play April 18 through May 3, 2019 for 14 performances only at the Frederick Loewe Theatre at Hunter College, East 68th Street between Park and Lexington Avenues. Tickets ($42, $15 for students with ID, with no service charge) are available starting Wednesday, March 20 at noon at www.huntertheaterproject.org.

Today the Franco-American Cultural Fund have announced that Mélanie Laurent will be honored as their “Focus on a Filmmaker” at the COLCOA French Film Festival. Additionally, they have announced the five films that comprise the “COLCOA Classic Series.” These selections will be presented as part of COLCOA's 22nd edition, which will run Monday, April 23 through Monday, April 30, with all screenings taking place at the Directors Guild of America. All films in the COLCOA Classics are free to the public. The complete line-up including films and series competing for the COLCOA Awards 2018 will be announced on April 3rd.

Artistic Director Carey Perloff announced today four of the seven productions that will comprise the lineup of the company's 50th subscription season, which will open in September 2016 with the 2015 Olivier Award-winning Best New Play, King Charles III, a coproduction with Seattle Repertory Theatre and Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington, DC; the world-premiere theatrical adaptation of Khaled Hosseini's (The Kite Runner) best-selling novel A Thousand Splendid Suns, featuring a live score by acclaimed musician David Coulter; the acclaimed new play, John, by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Annie Baker; and Battlefield, Peter Brook and Marie-Helene Estienne's intimate new interpretation and staging of Brook's groundbreaking production of The Mahabharata.
