Mabou Mines will present a 50th Anniversary Celebration of Work, reaching back into the company’s brimming five-decade history of innovative theater as a launchpad into the next 50 years (June 23–25; beginning 5pm June 23; 5pm–11 pm June 24; and 12pm–11pm June 25).

The Orange Tree Theatre today announces the full cast for Franz Xaver Kroetz’s Tom Fool, translated by Estella Schmid and Anthony Vivis. Diyan Zora directs Anna Francolini (Martha), Jonah Rzeskiewicz (Ludwig) and Michael Shaeffer (Otto).

On the night marking two years since theatres were forced to close their doors due to the pandemic, we are reminded of the power of theatre in Franz Xaver Kroetz’s Tom Fool. This poignant and disquieting play from 1978 neatly explores the crumbling of a family as social pressures thwart their ambitions and expectations.

Franz Xaver Kroetz’s Tom Fool opens at the Orange Tree Theatre on 16 March, with previews from 12 March, and runs until 16 April, with direction from Diyan Zora.

Director Yana Ross makes her BAM debut with Franz XaverKroetz's poignant cultural critique, Request Concert. The play consists only of stage directions, nodialogue. The sole character is a 50-year-old middle class woman who lives alone in an overly tidyapartment. She comes home from work, prepares dinner, does the laundry, watches TV, and listensto a radio program. Surrounded by Ikea furniture and brand-name appliances, acclaimed Polishactress Danuta Stenka infuses these actions with an increasing sense of loneliness and futility.Request Concert explores the devastating circumstances of life in a world that values objects overpeople. Staged in the round, the audience is invited to walk around the set and observe the production from all angles.

It is announced today that the Tony Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated actor Sophie Okonedo will join Damian Lewis in a new production of Edward Albee's The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?  Directed by Ian Rickson, the production will play a strictly limited 12 week season at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from 24th March to 24th June 2017.

Studio Theatre will inaugurate its Studio X series with Animal, a new play by British playwright Clare Lizzimore, commissioned for Studio's stage. "Clare is a director turned playwright whom I commissioned after reading her first play," says Artistic Director David Muse. "She has a tremendous theatrical imagination paired with an understanding of the subtle skill of actors to animate characters. Animal is an intimate and character-driven domestic drama, full of twists and humor. I've known GT Upchurch for years, and she has the craft and imagination to realize Clare's work in all its complexity and beauty."
