Kansas City Public Theatre has announced our 2020-2021 Season.
Tentatively titled, Oh God, Really?! this 30-person devised play project finds Fate bringing a group of childhood friends together at an abandoned roller rink in search of an illustrious and mysterious Smurfette doll. Friendships will be tested, skate-offs will be had, and time streams will be crossed.
Emma Carter (Temple) will complete the cast of the UK Tour of international hit comedy What's In A Name?, adapted and directed by Jeremy Sams from the award-winning French film and stage sensation, Le Prènom, by Matthew Delaporte and Alexandre de La Patellière.

The Stella Adler Studio of Acting and the Harold Clurman Playwrights Division will present the fifth annual First Breath New Play Reading Series June 11-14, 2018, featuring new work from four emerging female playwrights. One year ago, the Studio launched a search for new plays by women playwrights, and out of 100 submitted, four will be read. This year, First Breath will feature plays by Julie Richardson, Jan Rosenberg (also the Studio's playwright-in-residence this year), Emma Carter and Jordan Ramirez Puckett. Artistic Director Conrad Lynch today announces the ensemble for the Theatre by the Lake's Summer Season - the first time the theatre has featured two-companies. They will perform over 5 productions in rep - After the Dance, As You Like It, Miss Julie, Handbagged and Remarkable Invisible - in both the theatre's spaces.
It is The Coterie's favorite time of the year when world premiere readings from members of The Coterie's Young Playwrights' Roundtable will be showcased during the annual Young Playwrights' Festival at 7:00 p.m., May 7, at The Coterie Theatre, located on level 1 of the Crown Center Shops. On stage will be thirteen staged readings including monologues, spoken word, short plays, and excerpts from the WORDS + MUSIC project: five moments of new opera, as created by UMKC Conservatory composers in collaboration with Roundtable members, and staged with singers on the roster of the Lyric Opera.
