John Casperson, a philosopher, traveler, devoted writer and author, has completed his new book 'The Butterfly Effect: Flutters of Wisdom and Kindness': a gripping and potent book that exposes the economic, political, and religious nostrums that preclude one from realizing the basic premise that all humans have a universal spiritual common denominator; of one divine Source, that is shared.

'There's no such thing as countries....' George is in search of England, or to be more precise, what it means to be English. He was born English, his parents are English, but he's not sure whether he is any more. So he's back to find out. At least, that's what he says. A play about nationality, immigration and love, IN SEARCH OF ENGLAND is the next production by East London-based Fox Theatre Company, running November 22nd -26th 2015, 8.30pm at Theatre N16.
From Page to Stage, Broadway Hits the Books This Fall

Over the past few decades, many have bemoaned the rash of movies adapted for the Broadway stage, claiming that the theatre had lost its sense of creativity and enginuity. Some of these movie adaptations have gone on to have successful, award-winning runs (THE PRODUCERS and THE 39 STEPS to name a few), while many, many others have, simply, not. However, long before the stage looked to the screen as a source for new works, the inspiration for many of the theatre's best shows came from the pages of some of the world's best books; like THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK, or the longest running show in Broadway history, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.

CABARET LIFE NYC: Steve Schalchlin's 'New World Waking' Is a Spiritual & Political Wake-Up Call for Non-Violent Social Action and a Case for the Healing Power of Music

In my recent very extended assessment of cabaret shows I never reviewed during the second half of 2014, there were two significant omissions. I didn't leave these out of my critical mix because they weren't strikingly significant. In fact, it was just the opposite. The new variety game show, Tune In Time, which dubs itself the “Musical Theater Olympics,” and the musical theater piece/song cycle, New World Waking, were among the most original and entertaining productions I witnessed this year and deserved more of a feature treatment than a quickie review. My take on Tune In Time (which will begin a new monthly run at the York Theatre on January 5) should beat the clock before the next show. So by simple process of elimination, this commentary will be on New World Waking, which when performed on December 6 was one of the highlights of the recent annual 12-day, 20-show Winter Rhythms Festival at Urban Stages.
