Review: THE LAST FIVE YEARS Soars at Core Theatre Group

Last night, I was lucky enough to attend the opening night of Core Theatre Group’s (Hudson Valley’s newest theatre company), production of The Last Five Years, starring Season 6 winner of the The Voice Maelyn Jarmon and Clay Singer (The Band’s Visit).  This production, directed with honesty and inventiveness by Jessica McRoberts, one of the founding members of Core Theatre Group, was a breath of fresh air.

Review: THE BAND'S VISIT at The Kennedy Center

What did our critic think of THE BAND'S VISIT at The Kennedy Center?

BWW Review: THE BAND'S VISIT at Rochester Broadway Theatre League

What did our critic think of The Band's Visit in Rochester? The first words in 'The Band's Visit' are 'Once not long ago a group of musicians came to Israel from Egypt. You probably didn't hear about it. It wasn't very important.' These words don't exactly tee-up the audience for a musical full of sparkly costumes and dazzling kick lines, which is good because that's not at all what 'The Band's Visit' comes to deliver. What this show offers is much simpler and more fleeting. It's a story about love, music, and connection.

THE BAND'S VISIT to Begin Performances in D.C. in July

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts has announced that THE BAND’S VISIT, featuring music and lyrics by Tony® and Drama Desk Award®-winner David Yazbek, will be returning to Washington, D.C. from July 5–17, 2022.

BWW Review: A Visually Stunning THE BAND'S VISIT Makes a Stop at Straz Center For The Performing Arts

'Do yourself a favor, DO NOT miss this incredibly sobering production.' says BWW's critic.

BWW Review: THE BAND'S VISIT at The Fisher Theatre is a Love Letter to Middle Eastern Music and Culture

Now playing the Fisher Theatre through May 1st, recent Tony Award darling The Band's Visit is a musical with a lot of heart and a deeply ingrained mission to unify cultures, rather than divide. The genius of The Band's Visit lies not in flashy musical numbers or costumes, but in the honest (and modest) storytelling.

BWW Review: THE BAND'S VISIT Makes a Great Impression at OC's Segerstrom Center

Even without dazzling special effects and spectacular theatrics, or histrionic high drama, THE BAND'S VISIT---the Tony Award-winning stage musical now on stage at Orange County's Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa through April 3---still provides a powerful show that is quietly poetic in its precious, slow-burning delivery.

BWW Review: THE BAND'S VISIT at the Eccles Theater Shows Each Person Has a Story

The national tour of THE BAND’S VISIT, currently playing the Eccles Theater, presents a slow-moving, introspective slice of life that washes over the audience, occasionally grabbing them as it illuminates glimpses of the story each person has to tell.

BWW Review: THE BAND'S VISIT at The Paramount Theatre

Dear Readers, I want to tell you a story about a show. You probably never heard of it because it’s not very important. Wait! No, it is important, and you should have heard of it. At least since the show in question is the winner of 11 Tony Awards including Best Musical, “The Band’s Visit”, currently playing at the Paramount Theatre. But sadly, too few do know this show but let’s try and remedy that, shall we?
