The uplifting teen film 'Lux Freer' is set to screen at Dances With Films film festival, which opens on Thursday at Regal Union Square. Golden-Globe-nominated actress Cynthia Gibb (Gypsy, Fame, Youngblood) is thrilled to have her first project from behind the camera finding great success on the festival circuit. 'Lux Freer' won Best USA Film, with Gibb grabbing Best First-Time Director, at the NY Cinematography Awards and was named Outstanding Narrative Short at the Ridgefield Independent Film Festival in Connecticut (where the short was filmed).

The PTA in Edgewater, Indiana, is making a fuss about two girls going to prom together. Enter a group of hilarious, down-on-their-luck Broadway stars who make remedying the injustice their pet project, and get ready for a laugh-a-minute uplifting ride. You'll fall in love with the characters, music, and message in this colorful, poignant show.

Take a journey to an infamous Island this Memorial Day weekend, as Staples Players brings William Golding's Lord of the Flies to Staples High School's Black Box Theatre. Relive the classic story or discover it for the first time with a cast of male and female performers, directed by David Roth and Kerry Long. Producers Gerald Goehring, Michael F. Mitri, and Carl Moellenberg announced today that the workshop for the first-ever revival of the Tony Award-winning musical, The Secret Garden, will be presented on the industry-leading streaming platform, Broadway on Demand from May 6 at 8pm ET through May 9. 

Winslet stars as Mare Sheehan, a small-town Pennsylvania detective who investigates a local murder as life crumbles around her.

Producers Gerald Goehring and Michael F. Mitri announced today the cast for the lab of the highly-anticipated Broadway revival of the Tony Award-winning musical, The Secret Garden. With book and lyrics by Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize® winner Marsha Norman, music by Tony Award nominee Lucy Simon and based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden will be directed, choreographed, and reimagined for a new generation by Tony Award winner Warren Carlyle. The lab will be held from May 19 through June 8.

The event was organized by Carrie Berk (NYMF 2017 Award for Outstanding Individual Performance) and the all-kid cast of the New York Musical Festival's Peace, Love and Cupcakes: The Musical. The show joined forces with No Bully this summer and was awarded a special NYMF citation for turning a musical into a full-fledged social inclusivity movement.
