The Artistic Home will present Moira Buffini’s comedy Dying For It, directed by Monica Payne, playing March 18 – April 23 at The Den’s Bookspan Theatre.

The Artistic Home is inviting the public to share in their process of play selection this summer by offering free admission each weekend to staged readings and open rehearsals of three contemporary plays.

The Artistic Home Ensemble's first production of the 2019-20 Chicago Theatre Season will be the world premiere of VANYA ON THE PLAINS, a Chekhovian tragicomedy by Jason Hedrick, Director of the O'Neil Theatre and Instructor of Theatre and Speech at John A. Logan College in Carterville, IL.

Complete casting and production team have been announced for The Artistic Home's production of ROCK /N/ ROLL, by Tom Stoppard, set to open Sunday, October 7th.

The Artistic Home's summer late night production of Jean Genet's THE MAIDS has been extended one week - adding performances Friday, July 21 and Saturday, July 22. Genet's subversive drama in which two maids fantasize killing their mistress was inspired by a real-life murder committed by two sisters working as maids who killed their employer and her daughter.  In the play, the maids construct elaborate sadomasochistic rituals when their mistress (Madame) is away. The focus of their role-playing is the murder of Madame and they take turns portraying both sides of the power divide.

The Artistic Home Artistic Director Kathy Scambiatterra announced today the addition of five new acting ensemble members and the appointment of Kayla Adams as Associate Artistic Director of the company.

The Artistic Home will follow up its highly acclaimed and Jeff recommended production of By the Bog of Cats - a contemporary Irish take on Medea - with a much cheerier updating of a classic. Their summer production for 2017 will be David Ives' comedy in verse, The School for Lies. As Ives did with The Liar, his 'translaptation' of Corneille's Le Menteur, he honors the French 17th Century practice of writing in verse, but uses contemporary language even as he maintains the Moliere play's original setting of Paris in 1666.

The Arc Theatre presents Robert Harling's popular American classic STEEL MAGNOLIAS, directed by Artistic Director Mark Boergers*, playing now through February 12, 2017 at Red Curtain Theater at the First Congregational Church House, 1417 Hinman Ave. in Evanston. In The Artistic Home's production of Anton Chekhov's classic comedy of unrequited love and unrealized dreams, The Seagull, Company Artistic Director Kathy Scambiatterra (a Jeff Award nominee for The Artistic Home's Sweet Bird of Youth) plays the role of Madame Arkadina, the fading actress in love with a younger man, Trigorin. Scot West, previously seen at The Artistic Home in Watch on the Rhine, Interrogation and Miracle on 34th Street and in Griffin's Men Should Weep is the writer Trigorin. Brookelyn Hebert, of AH's Macbeth and Cut to the Chase, plays the young actress Nina, who is a rival to Arkadina for Trigorin's affections. In the role of Arkadina's son Konstantin, who competes with Trigorin for Nina's love, is AH ensemble member Julian Hester, a Jeff nominee for The Late Henry Moss.

Profiles Theatre continues its 27th season with VICES AND VIRTUES, two full evenings featuring eleven short plays by Resident Artist Neil LaBute, performing in rotating repertory. Each evening features Midwest and World premieres of some of LaBute's newest shorts, staged by individual directors and featuring an ensemble cast of twenty performers. Profiles' production runs at The Alley Stage, 4147 N.
