Renowned musician Don Was forms a new band, Don Was and The Pan-Detroit Ensemble. Get the latest updates on their music and upcoming performances. Made up of stellar jazz musicians from his hometown, the band features longtime collaborators including Blue Note Records artist Dave McMurray on sax and Eminem's collaborator keyboardist Luis Resto.

Produced by GRAMMY winner Steve Berlin of Los Lobos and mastered by GRAMMY winner Jim Scott (The Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, Sting), the album finds Jordan coming into his own as a frontman and songwriter after years of playing with bands like the Grahame Lesh-fronted Midnight North and sharing the stage with Bob Weir, Phil Lesh and Peter Rowan.

They will make their way to the west coast for the first time since 2022 with additional multi-night performances in Portland, Seattle, Berkeley, and Los Angeles Find out when and where the band will be performing near you! Fans can also join the band for Playa Luna Presents Dead Ahead, an all-inclusive vacation experience in Riviera Cancún, Mexico on January 12-15, 2024. The event will celebrate the Grateful Dead songbook featuring two nights of curated collaborations themed “Dead Ahead” as well as one night of Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros featuring The Wolfpack and more.

The theme for these special shows will be based on the Year of the Dragon. Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros will once again be joined by The Wolfpack, the string and brass quintet of Alex Kelly, Brian Switzer, Adam Theis, Mads Tolling and Sheldon Brown to perform selections from the expansive catalog of Grateful Dead, Bobby’s solo albums and more.

In addition to previously announced shows at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s CMA Theater (October 8), The Basement East (October 9) and the historic Ryman Auditorium (October 10, Prine’s birthday), the four-day gathering will also include several special events such as official pop-ups, film screenings, song circles and more.

Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts presents Jazz Is Dead - the legacy all-star instrumental ensemble famous for interpretations of classic Grateful Dead songs with jazz influences - on Wednesday, November 29 at 8 p.m. 

There’s the music he made in a shared studio spot with Josh Kaufman (Bonnie Light Horsemen, Bob Weir), like “Skipper on the Reef” and “J’Amore” – songs that have a lighter warmth and immediacy about them. Pianos glow gently around the cinematic 'Skipper on the Reef' as a wayward Salett struggles to figure out where his life is headed.
