Liars & Believers, the Cambridge-based theatre company, will perform their inspiring production of 'A Story Beyond' at The Foundry in Kendall Square during the February school vacation week, Feb. 18 to Feb. 25, 2023. Liars & Believers (LaB) will be the first professional company to perform at the Foundry, which opened in Fall 2022, after a years-long process of saving the historic building.

In 1982, Extremities, by playwright William Mastrosimone, premiered at Westside Arts in New York starring Susan Sarandon, and later the play was adapted into a movie starring Farrah Fawcett, the final actress to play the role of Marjorie in the Broadway production.

Playwright Allison Gregory combines myth and magic to craft a non-linear narrative about betrayal, death, motherhood, and the darkest tragedy. It is to her credit that she weaves a great deal of humor and humanity through the play, and Juliet Bowler is adept at playing both sides of the character. Toga-clad Gene Dante is c*cksure in the dual roles of the mythological Jason (of Golden Fleece fame) and modern-day Jason, the woman's ex-husband who left her for a younger wife. Every Greek play must have its Chorus to contribute commentary, ably provided here in both spoken and sung verses by Cassandra Meyer. Elizabeth Yvette Ramirez directs with a clear-eyed vision of both the real world and allegorical components of the play, and elicits strong performances from her tight-knit ensemble.

Liars & Believers (LAB), continues its risk-taking experimentation by inviting the public into the creative process with a free workshop presentation of their newest production, A Story Beyond. Bad Habit Productions is about to drop the final curtain after ten years of delivering award-winning theater, but they are not taking the easy way out. Director Dawn M. Simmons and an ensemble of eight actors make sense of Tom Stoppard's 1968 comedy whodunnit, THE REAL INSPECTOR HOUND, even as they squeeze very bit of theatrical nonsense from this old chestnut. The troupe plays well together and looks like they're taking their roles seriously, despite their characters saying and doing ridiculous things.

Bad Habit Productions inaugurates their 10th anniversary season with the world premiere of Kirsten Greenidge's HOW SOFT THE LINING, a historically-based play about the unusual relationship between Mary Todd Lincoln and her seamstress Elizabeth Keckley, a freed slave. Director M. Bevin O'Gara draws strong performances from Bridgette Hayes, Elle Borders, and versatile, diverse ensemble, to tell a story that resonates on many levels in today's political climate.

Flat Earth Theatre opens their tenth anniversary season with the East Coast premier of Gina Young's cheeky exploration of growing up queer in the 90s. An ensemble cast of seven women and four men portray girls and boys of varying ages and personality types, but you will recognize all of these kids and may see yourself among them. Through a series of vignettes, dances, and songs, Young captures the awkwardness and anxiety of sexual awakening and feeling "different," but would get more bang for the buck with some judicious editing.
