Review: AMERICAN FAST Lights the Beam at Capital Stage


Capital Stage is starting the new year off with a winner. American Fast. by Kareem Fahmy, is making its Sacramento premiere and running through February. Its themes of competition, self-reflection, and navigating relationships are particularly relevant, as many immigrants struggle to honor familial traditions while finding their own way in contemporary society.

SARTA's TONIGHT STARRING Series to Present Staged Reading of GOD OF CARNAGE in June


Tonight Starring, will open with a unique staged reading of God of Carnage, written by Yazmina Reza and translated by Christopher Hampton. This staged reading will feature local actor Deborah Bromley, who cast herself in this dramatic play! Additional actors include Jim Last, Jackie Martin and Ted Ridgway. The play's director is Atim Udoffia.

New Play Festival Announced At Capital Stage!


Capital Stage presents its annual new play festival PLAYWRIGHTS' REVOLUTION. Capital Stage created PLAYWRIGHTS' REVOLUTION to contribute to the development of new plays and playwrights. Each year just a handful of plays are carefully selected from hundreds of submissions and presented as staged readings for the public by Capital Stage artists. Tickets are FREE. BWW Review: MACBETH Solicits the Supernatural at Sacramento Theatre Company


Director Casey McClellan, fresh off of a Broadway World Best Director win for The Diary of Anne Frank, brings the Scottish play to Sacramento Theatre Company with a creative spin on the dark and supernatural elements of the show. For those who are not familiar with MacBeth, it is arguably one of Shakespeare's darkest works and cleverly explores the depravity of the human mind and the lengths that one will go to for personal gain.

Lacy, Jr. (Berkeley Repertory Theatre) and Atim Udoffia (San Francisco Playhouse). THE ROYALE plays November 3 through December 3 at the Aurora Theatre in Berkeley. Sandbox Series presents ZENITH at A.C.T.'s Costume Shop

EMH Productions rounds out its fifth year of dynamic theatre on intimate Sacramento stages, this time partnering with Co-Producer Atim Udoffia for Doubt by John Patrick Shanley. It will be directed by Sacramento's Anthony D'Juan. This 2005 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play mesmerized audiences on Broadway, while the 2009 film adaptation received an Oscar nomination.
