Anchor Bay Films kicks off the 2013 Sundance Film Festival with the pick-up of The Rambler starring Dermot Mulroney (My Best Friend's Wedding, The Grey). Written and directed by Calvin Lee Reeder, the film is set to premiere on Monday, January 21st (11:59pm) during Park City at Midnight. The agreement covers theatrical, home entertainment, television and digital distribution rights in the North America, the U.K. and Australia. Sundance Institute announced today the films selected to screen in the 2013 Sundance Film Festival out-of-competition sections Spotlight, Park City at Midnight and New Frontier, as well as the installations and performances to be featured in the Festival's New Frontier venue. The Festival takes place January 17-27 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah.

AKA and Bow Street Films announced today that they will merge into a new production outfit that will be named AKA/Bow Street Films (AKA/BSF). The new entity will allow filmmakers at the company to make high quality films for under $3 million. The slate at AKA/Bow Street Films will consist of two primary tranches of films, all with budgets between $500k and $3 million: genre films such as suspense, thriller, horror and contained action and, second, dramatic features of upcoming directors with strong casts that are made for a sensible price.
