It's officially summer which means it's Tamarie Time! The Tamarie Cooper Show has, for years, been a cult hit and can't-miss Houston summer tradition.

Tamarie is a whirling dervish, a force of nature, and a comedic genius of a performer. She rises to the challenge of playing herself admirably, and it's the kind of role she was born to play. I doubt any other actor or actress in Houston could portray her quite as convincingly.

Tamarie and her gang of merry misfits are returning to the stage—an actual stage—for a hilarious, irreverent, all-new musical extravaganza featuring an original score played by a live band and performances from some of Houston's funniest, wildest, quirkiest, sometimes raunchiest actors.

Last spring, Catastrophic dispatched teams to the backyards and driveways of audience members to perform entirely original work in a masked, socially distanced format for no more than 10 audience members at a time.

The Catastrophic Theatre is continuing to bring intimate live performances to the front lawns of Houstonians this spring!

Returning for the third  year in a row, Mildred's Umbrella (MU) is teaming up with Rudyard's British Pub and The Houston Press  for 'Women Rock,' a fundraiser benefiting the theater company's 2020-2021 season. The benefit concert will feature local female-fronted bands and solo artists, a silent auction, and food and drink for purchase from Rudyard's new menu.

Originally conceived by playwright Young Jean Lee, it was performed as spoken word broken up by punk rock songs about pain and death. Somehow performer Alli Villines has turned it into a ukulele folk festival! But I ask dear reader, what could be more punk rock than a collection of named ukuleles played without an ounce of irony whatsoever?

This iteration of the Tamarie Cooper Show explores the leading lady's emotional baggage, battle against minor depression, and all of the discarded bad ideas that the troop has come up with when they were in line at 4am at Taco Bell. In other words, business as usual for Tamarie and her cast of usual suspects.

Horse Head Theatre Co.'s (HH) Houston Premiere of CHURCH by Young Jean Lee & original immersive pre-show experience will be presented at The Heritage Society's historical 1891 St. John Church located in Sam Houston Park (Allen Parkway & Bagby) from August 4 - 20, 2017. The immersive experience begins at 7:30pm, CHURCH begins at 8pm.
