The incomparable Kahil El'Zabar and his award-winning Ethnic Heritage Ensemble are returning to The Encore, this time bringing a unique Modern Exploration of the American Songbook. El'Zabar's ensemble last appeared on The Encore's Maas stage one year ago with Modern Jazz Meets Musical Theatre, which was met with great enthusiasm and acclaim.

Not only an accomplished director and choreographer, McIntyre’s Broadway performance credits include Anything Goes with PATTI LUPONE, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat with DONNY OSMOND, and the original company of Once on this Island. 

The Encore's first offering of Season 14 bursts onto The Maas stage September 15 – October 2. AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' will feature direction and choreography by “The Mayor of Broadway” GERRY MCINTYRE, whose energetic choreography was last seen at The Encore in the Season 13 opener, Smokey Joe's Café.

The Encore Musical Theatre Company will offer two very special events that celebrate the heritage of Black music.

Modern Jazz Meets Musical Theatre runs for two performances only, Feb. 18th and 19th at 7:30pm, at The Encore Musical Theatre Company. Today ArtsBridge announced the nominees for the 9th Annual Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards - Shuler Hensley Awards - in a live streaming broadcast on GPB.org. 35 public and private schools from throughout the state were nominated in 17 categories. The awards show is the culmination of a year-long professional development program, and will showcase the next generation of Georgia's musical theatre talent. Presented by the Georgia Lottery, the awards show will air on Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB) over its nine-station statewide television network live from Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre on April 20, 2017 from 7-9 pm.

Tonight Hayes Theatre Co held its twice-yearly COMING SOON event, where programming announcements for 2017 were made. 

Following the success of their multi-award winning production of Miracle City, Luckiest Productions is pleased to present Only Heaven Knows by Alex Harding, the company's second revival production of an Australian musical.

Daniel Harding, awarded the Premio Abbiati by Italian music critics as best conductor of 2011, celebrates Wagner's centenary with the Prelude and Death of Isolde, the symphonic piece with which Wagner introduced Tristan und Isolde in concert halls while he was still struggling to have it performed in theaters. Harding, conducts La Scala's philharmonic orchestra in a classic MusicEmotion concert to be broadcast Sunday, October 20, noon at Music Box Theatre, 3733 N. Southport Avenue. Tickets are $10 in advance at www.musicboxtheatre.com/collections/musicemotion or in person at the Music Box Theatre box office, subject to availability.

Trumpeter/composer/bandleader/educator Ahmed Abdullah's band Diaspora (Dispersions of the Spirit of Ra) will make a rare NY appearance and perform at For My Sweet, 1103 Fulton Street between Classon and Claver Place tonight, August 5th at 7 and 9pm. The band includes vocalist/poet Monique Ngozi Nri, Alex Harding, baritone sax, D.D.Jackson, piano, Radu, bass and drummer Reggie Nicholson.
