Planning out my trip in a couple weeks and will be rushing for most shows. For those who have rushed the following shows, were the seats too obstructed, would you do it again? Are there any cheap (cheaper) ways to see Cabaret since I know the likelihood of winning the digital lottery is pretty bad.
Outsiders
Water for Elephants
Gatsby
Suffs
Notebook
Beautiful Noise (I know, I know but growing up with Neil, I feel like I have to see it :)
Mary Jane
Appropriate
Mother Play

Friend who rushed recently got side orchestra row G for Appropriate (on a Sunday, showed up over an hour early but was the only one there for a bit and people didn't really start coming til half hour before) and side orchestra around row E for Gatsby (showed up an hour and 40 minutes early and there was already a decent sized line). She said the view was fine for both shows but did feel like Gatsby would've played better from a slightly more central seat but it was worth the rush price.
For Cabaret it might be slim chances, but keep an eye out for a SeatGeek discount code (maybe they'll release something for Mother's Day?) or a TodayTix sale, which can sometimes take off fees and then some (though it wouldn't be a major discount).

I rushed Gatsby on Thursday evening for an 8pm curtain. Arrived at the box office around 7pm and secured Orchestra F, two seats away from center aisle. Perfect view.
Mary Jane & Mother Play only offer rush through TodayTix unless you’re a student or under 30.
I’ve tried to rush W4E during the day as I can’t make mornings and have always been denied despite being poorly sold through in some instances.
The Outsiders offers SRO if rush tickets are not available and the performance has sold out. If the performance has not sold out, I was offered $89 orchestra seats.

I had row D far side for Outsiders. It was partial view but I found it mostly fine, only a little bit missed
Water for Elephants I was Rear mezz row E right at the far side. Felt a bit too far away for my liking although the side on view didn’t affect me much.

My daughter is 23, would that mean we would rush in person for Mary Jane & Mother Play?

The rush for Mary Jane is either digital (for all) or in-person for students. If she has a student ID and is buying the tickets, then it’s shouldn’t be an issue. For 30 under 35, you can buy 2 tickets and the purchaser’s guest can be any age.
For Mother Play, their student rush and 30 under 30 are STRICT and they will verify that guest holding the second ticket is also someone 30 and under when the tickets are picked up

I rushed 2 shows last week - "The Notebook" & "Water For Elephants." Got to both theatres at 7:45am. Within a few minutes another person arrived and when the box office opened at 10am, there were about 20 people in line, for each show.
"The Notebook" got 2 seats in row E, side orchestra, right on the inner aisle. Fantastic seats. For "Elephants," row B, side orchestra, last 2 seats. Was partial view, but missed very little.

When we rushed Suffs we got third row off to the side and they were great.

When I rushed Suffs a couple weeks ago I got front row right next to the conductor pit. The only thing you miss is when parts of the stage is on fire. Other than that a+ view

That's not correct. Second person can be any age with the 30 under 30 tix.
From their website -
"How many tickets can I buy? You can purchase two tickets per performance. Purchaser must have a valid ID stating they are 30 years of age or younger. Guest may be any age."
