Born April 21, 1949, today is three-time Tony winner Patti LuPone’s 75th birthday!

What is your favorite performance, encounter, or inflammatory statement she has made over the years?

The time she said something about oral sex between that guy and the current president of Russia.  Also, there are too many great moments on stage to mention.  Happy Birthday!

I was fortunate to see her last night performing her "My Life in Notes" in Los Angeles. Her Act Two opening trifecta of "Don't Cry For Me, Argentina," "I Dreamed a Dream," and "Ladies Who Lunch" brought the house down (just the moment after "Dream" when she walked to the piano and turned around with a martini glass in her raised hand stopped the show, for we all knew what was coming), but it was her covers of "Make You Feel My Love," "Forever Young," and "In My Life" that reduced me to a blubbering mess and that I expect I will remember for the rest of my life. Happy Birthday, Patti!

Joanne in Company! A performance like no other!

The idea is to work and to experiment. Some things will be creatively successful, some things will succeed at the box office, and some things will only - which is the biggest only - teach you things that see the future. And they're probably as valuable as any of your successes. -Harold Prince

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

I had *no idea* she was 75. A person like that never seems to really get older.

Still haven't seen her live, definitely want to, but have enjoyed so many clips online.

Her painfully realistic turn as a self-obsessed mother who rejects her son on Ugly Betty was really impressive. No singing, no second appearance, just cold hard acting and out the door.

Love the singing though LOL!

One of my favorite episodes of one of my favorite shows. I remember watching a recorded version of this episode again and again as we waited for season 2 to start. I was 10 lol

Patti is... simply no words. Greatest Broadway star of the past 50 years. Evita, Les Miserables, Sunset, Anything Goes, Gypsy... She is a phenomenon.

A glowing review on Parterre of her recent LA concert.  I like how she has changed up the set list so much from what she performed on her tour dates last year.
