Tom Holland will lead the Jamie LloydCompany's new West End production of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet. Tom Holland will take on the role of Romeo, in the production directed by Jamie Lloyd.
Romeo & Juliet runs at the Duke of York’s Theatre, Saturday 11 May – Saturday 3 August 2024!

I am torn.
I am thrilled Tom Holland is returning to live theatre, but does it have to be with Jamie Lloyd directing???
I can already see it, the set will be a single chair and everyone will be covered in blood at the end.
I’m just frustrated. This is going to be so many people’s first live theatre show (I will give Lloyd credit for this, he makes sure to have tons of affordable tickets for those who otherwise could never afford them), and it is going to be a super minimalist production when it could be so much more.
I’m really hoping Holland is awesome, and that this is just the start of his adult career onstage.

Damn! I won’t be back in London till September so I’ll miss this entirely! This is gonna sell out fast cause of Holland. Hope NT Live films it.

Hoping Lloyd does something different here to show that he has more in him than folding chairs and Ivo’s cameras.
Either way, I’m excited to see Holland onstage.

Granted, Rebecca Frecknall's production that ran at the Almeida last year was visually and emotionally stunning! It was also a bare-stage production, but it worked so well. Obviously, Jamie will likely make this a much darker and more modern approach to the piece, just like Sunset. He seems to be in his Dark/Bloody era.

I like Jamie Lloyd and haven't seen enough of his yet to be tired of him and I also think it would be cool to see Tom Holland. But, Romeo and Juliet feels so unexciting to me.

When I was scanning the Briefing I read this as Tom Hollander (not to sound like a Hollywood finance department) and was like "ugh, another 'young characters being played by older actors' production."
THIS is much more interesting!
I assume Juliet will be a young actress who most of us haven't heard of. It is funny to have just one name above the title though (even though he's obviously the one who will be selling the tickets).

I was skeptical of Frecknall's R&J but was just BLOWN AWAY by it. I guess it's just how you take your approach to it. Obviously, this production will be darker and (if like Sunset) bloodier. I'll say it again, Jamie seems to be in a dark/bloody phase in his career.

Any Lloyd show depends on high profile perforners, sadly.

Only single seats left for the entire run. I was 65 thousand in the queue. No chance.
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist.
Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino.

It is, and it's odd that they wouldn't announce her alongside TH. Even though I could play Juliet opposite Holland and it would have the exact same impact on the box office.

Two hours of sleep but at least I got in with the pre sale. ATG paused sales twice and had everyone waiting for a very long time so they could keep raising their prices during the presale period.

If anyone still wants to see this, I’d really advise to keep checking the website - there will be random seats that open up. Thats how I got into “Prima Facie” when it first premiered and was able to snag some for “A Little Life” for a friend that way, too. Of course it could be today or in 3 months when it happens, it’ll all be a matter of luck.

Someone said a range between £65 - £125 but some said they jacked up the prices as the tickets quickly sold out.

I'm in the States so I set my alarm for 2:50 AM to wake up so I can get a ticket. I registered for the pre-sale access and got in queue with 1500 people ahead of me. When it got to my turn (maybe a 15 minute wait), I was able to snag a ticket in the stalls for the final performance on 8/3. I'm glad I got a ticket. I wasn't planning on a trip to London in August, but now I'll have to plan at least a weekend trip for this show.
