EDIT May 5, 2024

Hello dear future reader.  Please look at the date I started this thread...back in 2019.  If this got bumped recently, in your time, the first few pages will be irrelevant.

Is there anything else ready to go into a theatre this autumn?
Would West Side Story use the Longacre?

I think the Longacre could be too small for a musical as iconic as West Side Story. A small, “original” musical like Everybody’s Talking About Jamie would be a good fit...

I heard a rumor that SIX would take the Longacre, which would fit in with the idea of a small, "original" musical.  (can they do it by april cause i need an original score on broadway this season)

Both Six and Jamie would be good fits - the Little British musicals that could...

I wonder if there are any New American musicals which could also fit in the Longacre...

MollyJeanneMusic, any updates as to when "Six" will be moving?  I'm in NYC now and asked a few of the theatres about it, and the ushers and box office staff that I spoke to, haven't heard anything about it.  Please update us when you can.

CatsNYRevival, yes I know.  MJM has posted before about rumors, and is always a good source of theatre information.

If you know the post is from 2019 then your question makes no sense... Six isn't moving.

That post predates Six opening on Broadway- I’m pretty sure it even predates Six announcing a transfer- it was never about the production moving theaters, it was about where the production was looking to open.

Begging you and everyone else to please never, ever bother box office staff or ushers with bull**** questions like this.

It is not their job to be a spokesperson for a landlord or a production. They're not a source of official information simply because they work in the building. And if they are sharing rumored or off-the-record info to potential buyers, that's a great way to get sacked.

Leave them alone.

In all my many, many decades of seeing theatre in NYC, LA, Chicago, London, etc......I have yet to meet an usher who will get into trouble because they were asked a question about the shows that are currently playing.  Last night I had a great conversation with an usher at "The Outsiders" and we discussed the Tony nominations, other shows that are playing on the same street and we discussed forthcoming shows, too.

It’s just weird to ask about something that isn’t happening, what’s not clickin’

What ushers are supposed to do: Direct you to your seats, give you playbills/programs, maybe discuss other shows with you

What they're not there to do: Confirm or deny rumors-exactly that- RUMORS- about a show. They literally know nothing about that and even if they did, guessing they can't talk about it. Don't ask them. Why doesn't this make sense?
