WVPT's Award-Winning Musical THE LAST FIVE YEARS Returns To MAC

Following their acclaimed run last September, West Virginia Public Theatre (WVPT) returns to Monongalia Arts Center over Valentine's Day Weekend for a strictly limited three-show revival. The Last Five Years, which won both "Best Musical" and "Best Actor in a Musical" in the 2018 BroadwayWorld Regional Awards, is an intimate, funny, and devastatingly honest examination of life and love. The production opens on Thursday, February 14 at 8pm, with additional shows on February 15 at 8pm and February 17 at 2pm. There is no performance on Saturday the 16th. All performances will take place in the Tanner Theatre at Monongalia Arts Center (MAC).

In The Last Five Years, an up-and-coming novelist and a struggling actress recall the highs and lows of their relationship through a series of songs, starting from opposite points in time and meeting in the middle.

Jason Robert Brown's Drama Desk Award winning musical premiered in 2001 with Sherie Renee Scott (Aida) as Cathy and Norbert Leo Butz (Wicked) as Jamie and has since been adapted into a film featuring Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect) and Jeremy Jordan (Newsies). It has been performed to rave reviews all over the world and is now returning to North-Central West Virginia starring Nora Perone and Daniel A. Stevens, with direction by Jen Coles and musical direction by R.J. Nestor.

Perone and Stevens, both West Virginians and alumni of WVU, have taken their acting careers far, to Los Angeles and London, respectively. Both are returning to their home state to support local arts organizations.

Stevens recently appeared as George Bailey in WVPT's It's A Wonderful Life. He was also awarded Best Actor in a Musical for his performance as Jamie Wellerstein in The Last Five Years. Perone has recently appeared in It's A Wonderful Life and Storming Heaven: The Musical with WVPT and as Lil Bit in How I Learned to Drive with M.T. Pockets Theatre.

Tickets are now available for this performance. Admission is $10 when booked in advance, or $15 at the door. Advance tickets may be purchased at the MAC Lobby Desk, by phone (304-292-3325), and online at www.monartscenter.com/shop.

MAC is located at 107 High Street, Morgantown, WV. Inquiries should be directed to info@monartscenter.com or 304-292-3325. Follow the show on Twitter and Instagram at @wvpublictheatre.
