ALICE'S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND Features Exciting Debuts

Karen Kain, Artistic Director of The National Ballet of Canada, today announced the principal casting for Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by acclaimed British choreographer Christopher Wheeldon. Having performed to sold-out houses in London, New York City, Los Angeles, Washington D.C. and Toronto, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland returns to the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts March 7-17, 2019.

Opening night Alice will be performed by Principal Dancer Jillian Vanstone who danced the role in the North American premiere in 2011. Making their debuts in the title role of Alice this season are First Soloist Emma Hawes and Second Soloist Miyoko Koyasu.

Principal Dancers Skylar Campbell, Francesco Gabriele Frola and Harrison James will debut in the role of Jack/The Knave of Hearts.

Making their debuts as Lewis Carroll/The White Rabbit are First Soloist Brendan Saye, Second Soloist Christopher Gerty and Corps de Ballet member Siphesihle November.

Principal Dancer Heather Ogden and First Soloist Hannah Fischer make their debuts as Mother/The Queen of Hearts, with Second Soloist Brent Parolin debuting as Father/The King of Hearts.

First Soloist Chelsy Meiss will make her debut as the Magician/Mad Hatter, marking the first time the role has been danced by a woman. Second Soloist Donald Thom makes his company debut in the tap-dancing role.

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland has been hailed "a brilliantly theatrical, superbly designed extravaganza of colour and costume, madcap action and fluent dance." (The New York Times) with an original score by British composer Joby Talbot, designs by Tony Award-winner Bob Crowley and lighting by Natasha Katz.

First Soloist Tanya Howard celebrates her 20th anniversary with the National Ballet during the 2018/19 season. Ms. Howard's milestone will be celebrated at an Alice's Adventures in Wonderland performance when she reprises the role of Mother/The Queen of Hearts.
