Unless you've been living under a rock, you know that Wicked recently celebrated 15 years on Broadway! To celebrate, Broadway Sessions offered up our 4th annual "ElphaBall. Former "Green Girls" Alyssa Fox, Stephanie Torns and Maddy Trumble came to perform songs that reflected their time and experiences as well as themes relating to Wicked. We also welcomed four incredible "Rising Stars" to channel their inner Elphabas, and boy, did they deliver. Enjoy Elora Von Rosch, Bridget Hughes, Victoria Scovens and Persard Owens. What a ball it was!

Broadway Sessions celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15- October 15). We invited some of our favorite Latinx Broadway performers to share songs and stories reflecting their early hispanic influences on Broadway and beyond. Rodney Ingram (Phantom of the Opera), Yurel Echerezatta (Head Over Heels), Roddy Kennedy (Hamilton), Jennifer Sanchez (Pretty Woman), Julius Anthony Rubio (Frozen), Kathryn Allison (Aladdin) alongside "Rising Stars" AJ Alvarez and Hector Lionel enchanted the audience with heartfelt performances in both English and Spanish. The cast of the Off Broadway revival of Smokey Joes Cafe came to Broadway Sessions recently and blew the roof off The Laurie Beechman Theatre. These guys and gals have some of the best voices in the biz. Enjoy these highlights from Alysha Umphress, Emma Degerstedt, Dionne Figgins, Kyle Taylor Parker, Jelani Remy, Shavey Brown, Bronwyn Tarboton, Nicole Vanessa Ortiz, Antoinette Comer and Max Sangerman alongside "Rising Star" Peggy Sue Johnson. Smokey Joe's Cafe closes on November 4th, so make sure you catch the amazing cast before it's too late!

We said mazel tov to the incredibly talented and recently extended (again) cast of the Yiddish Nation Theater Folkbiene production of Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish. The cast performed and told stories about their groundbreaking production (Ince again recently extended until Dec. 30th!). There were laughs a plenty, belly high noted and YES, even some Yiddish! We got Gettin' The Band Back Together- BACK TOGETHER at Broadway Sessions recently.  Cast members reunited to tell stories from the show and perform music they love to sing. There were Bon Jovi shout outs a plenty, and laughs galore, just like GTBBT! Cast members Mitchell Jarvis, Garth Kravits, Noa Solorio, Becca Kotte, Ian Ward, Lindsey Brett Carothers, Scott Foster and special guests Eugene Ebner and Jocelin Weiss blew the roof off the joint! The cast even treated the audience to our signature "Sloppy Plot Synopses", so if you missed the show, now you can know just what you missed ;)

Broadway Sessions went wild with the cast of Desperate Measures! Cast members Lauren Molina (Bella), Gary Maracheck (Father Morse), Sarah Parnicky (Sister Mary Jo), Nick Wyman (Governor), William Thomas Evans, Bryant Martin, and CJ Eldred joined us for a hootenanny of a night and hilarity ensued. We also welcomed incredible rising stars Marcus Jordan and Kyle Jurassic!

We recently wished happy birthday to our resident musical genius Joshua Stephen Kartes at a special open mic event. Singers from Japan to England and back again joined together to showcase their talents. Joshua even enjoyed some very special birthdays serenades's from Jaime Cepero and Margaret Kelly. I am always blown away by the diversity and talent in the room when we go "all open mic". Make sure you keep up with us on social so you can be in the room where it happens next month!

The cast of Head Over Heels sang Broadway Sessions into it's 11th year recently for the long running shows season premiere. RuPauls' Drag Race standout Peppermint (Pythio in Head Over Heels) co-hosted the night, which featured musical selections celebrating queer love, life and inclusion. Well, we did it! Broadway Sessions recently celebrated it's 10th anniversary with a full blown SUPER SHOW! We invited back some of our favorite performers to recreate some of our favorite musical moments. We also had some incredible new memories made! Our All-Star cast dazzled the SRO room. Nothing gets us as excited as seeing brand new musical theatre taking shape. The hot new song, thrilling new stories being sung, new characters to bring to life, we eat it all up. And that's what the New York Musical Festival is all about- giving a platform to new musicals. We put the spotlight on eight of the hottest new shows being featured in this year's NYMF. Be warned- this is the first time many of these songs have seen the light of day in public, so watch your fingers, this is a very hot plate :) Enjoy these highlights then get out there and support NYMF!

We couldn't very well end our 10th season without celebrating pride! And what better way to celebrate than with an Open Mic having friends new and old come wave their freak flags high!

Viva La Vie Boheme! Well viva Bohemia Realty Group at any rate. Broadway Sessions recently put the spotlight on the agents of Bohemia Realty, all amazing actors and singers, with the greatest side hustle I the world!

It was a KILLER night at Broadway Sessions recently as the cast of the hit revival of Sweeney Todd sailed into Broadway Sessions. Cast members performed re-imagined versions of Sondheim classics and broke down the Sweeney plot in our "Shlopppy Plot Shynopsis". Enjoy highlights from these amazing voices here.

The 'Big Apple' became the 'Big Orange' recently as the 2018 Musical Theatre class from top-rated Syracuse University came to town. We invited the 2018 grads to take the stage and bask in their transition from students of the theatre to PROFESSIONAL ACTORS! Enjoy performances from the wildly talented graduates alongside the gorgeous Catherine Charlebois and mega talented Olivia Gjurich.

The 'Notes of Florida State University brought the southern heat to Broadway Sessions recently. He extremely talented 2019 graduating class performed alongside dynamic alumni Tanisha Moore (Flashdance) and Avenue Q's Grace Choi. Enjoy highlights here.

You may not know this, but our friendly neighborhood Broadway buddy, Ben Cameron, grew up in the Mormon church, just miles away from Brigham Young University. This makes him no stranger to the legendary Music/Dance/Theatre program that has been responsible for a number of our favorite stars including, but not limited to Oyoyo Joy Bonner (Book of Mormon), Delaney Westfall (Sweeney Todd), Megan Masako Haley (Wicked), Michael Milkanin (Kinky Boots), and Brian Russell Carey (Red Roses Green Gold). So obviously we invited them to sing us a tune as we welcomed phenomenal 2018 graduating class of BYU to NYC! Check out these video clips from the unforgettable night!

Let's hear it for he boys! And boy did we hear 'em.  We recently welcomed some of Broadway's most talented dudes to Broadway Sessions for a night full of testosterone and, well, um… showtimes. We also welcomed back past Rising Stars Jose Plaza, Melanie Sierra, Jessica Lieberman and Kate Corsaro.

Baldwin Wallace has a long and storied history of producing tremendous theatrical talents. We very proud of our relationship with BW and were thrilled to welcome a new batch of mega stars to Broadway Sessions recently.  Helping to welcome the grads were BW alumni and Broadway scene stealers  Jai'Len Josey (Spongebob), Zach Adkins (Anastasia) and John Kramer (Book of Mormon). We also enjoyed special performance by Christopher Timson and The Beechman's own Michael Kirk Lane.

Someone once said, "Don't Be Cruel, to a Heart That's True"… but it's not ALWAYS a good idea to repress your cruel intentions. Especially if your intention is to create a completely madcap music theatre 90's pop/rock concert retelling of the 90's cult classic Cruel Intentions. Well, thank the musical theatre gods someone saw fit to do just that.

As they say in Damn Yankees- " You gotta have heart, miles and miles and miles of heart". Or did they mean to say "You gotta have HARTT"? Either way, we had both at Broadway Sessions recently as we welcomed the extremely talented 2018 MT grads from The HARTT School alongside talented HARTT alumni. ROLE TIDE! That's University of Alabama's war cry. What does it mean? Well, I'm not exactly sue, but it might as well mean "Roll out the talent"! We learned that much at Broadway Sessions recently as we welcomed the '18 MT grads and alumni from "Bama". Enjoy highlights from this magical musical night here.

Broadway Sessions recently celebrated the music of award winning composing team Thomson and Desmon. Jeffrey Thomson and Jeremy Desmon are responsible for musicals One Hit Wonder, The Oliver Experiment, Pump Up the Volume and the highly anticipated Nancy Drew. Wonderful writers tend to have some wonderful friends who tend to want to get their hands on their music! And that's a very good thing.

Well my friends, Jersey Boys is back on the boards at New World Stages and all is right with the world. We were fortunate enough to welcome the stars of Jersey Boys to Broadway Sessions recently, and "Oh What a Night" it was. Enjoy highlights from performances by Aaron DeJesus (Frankie Valli), Cory Jeacoma (Bob Gaudio) and Skye Scott (Bob Crewe). Plus our teenage "Rising Stars"- Jack D'Angelo and Avery Carlson.

Once a month Broadway Sessions open the mic and the stage up to fabulous performers from all walks of life. Last month we were delighted to welcome vocalists from England, Scotland, Argentina and Uruguay as well as some of the best undiscovered singers in NYC.
