The Metropolitan Orchestra (TMO) turn the spotlight on themselves with two incredible symphonies at Marrickville Town Hall led by charismatic Chief Conductor and Artistic Director Sarah-Grace Williams. The performance begins with Mendelssohn’s bright and jolly Symphony Number 4 which is commonly known as “The Italian Symphony”. This work will take the audience on a fantastic Italian tour as Mendelssohn reflects on the delightful atmosphere and colour experienced during his time in Italy. Following the interval, the audience will embark on a profound musical journey of fate and destiny with Tchaikovsky’s formidable Fourth Symphony. From the opening bars of the first movement which are intended to represent a metaphor for fate, the work will criss-cross a myriad of states from anguish to melancholy, from despair to pure optimism. These two works shine a light on how incredibly written and passionately delivered music can take you on an emotional rollercoaster while leaving you exhilarated. Be there to experience the thrill of a large orchestra, live in concert.
