It is appropriate that on March 8, National Women's Day, which contends to end exploitation and increase equality for females, I saw Seat of the Pants production of Sarah Treem's 'WHEN WE WERE YOUNG AND UNAFRAID.'

The Fred Ebb Foundation (Mitchell S. Bernard, Trustee) in association with the Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director) presented the fifteenth annual Fred Ebb Award for aspiring musical theatre songwriters to Angela Sclafani & Benjamin Velez. The award, named in honor of the late award-winning lyricist Fred Ebb, was presented by Kate Baldwin on Monday, December 2nd from 6-8pm at a by-invitation-only ceremony in the Penthouse Lounge of The American Airlines Theater.

Last year, in 2018, the third annual Dancers For Good Benefit supporting the Actors Fund Dancers Resource in East Hampton was so impressive that I challenged the founders to 'high-kick it up a notch even higher next year'. I'm thrilled to announce that not only did they clearly accept that challenge, they superseded all expectations!

Hell in a Handbag Productions is pleased to launch its 2019 season with a revival of the musical that started it all: POSEIDON! An Upside Down Musical, a musical parody and a loving homage to the classic 1972 film, The Poseidon Adventure, the grandmother of all disaster films. Handbag's very first show will return March 15 - April 28, 2019 at a venue befitting of an ocean liner: The Edge Theater, 5451 N. Broadway in Chicago.

Music Theatre Wichita concludes its 2017 Season, "Hollywood to Broadway: A Summer Festival of Musical Theatre" with the regional premiere of Disney's Newsies. The lively season finale has an extended run, with performances August 11-20 in the Century II Concert Hall in downtown Wichita, KS. Newsies is part of the organization's 46th season, which is also the 30th season for producing artistic director Wayne Bryan, the final of five locally produced Broadway-scale productions.

As previously announced, Anne Archer (Fatal Attraction; Patriot Games; Clear and Present Danger) will return to the UK to star as 'Jane Fonda', having first developed the role at the Edinburgh Festival in 2014. Archer was last seen on the London stage making her West End debut as 'Mrs Robinson' in The Graduate at the Gielgud Theatre in 2001, to critical acclaim.

Last night, 92Y celebrated songwriting legend Mike Stoller on the occasion of his 80th year with An 80th Birthday Celebration, a one-night-only Lyrics & Lyricists Special Event hosted by Paul Shaffer and directed and written by Randy Johnson (director/writer of A Night withJanis Joplin). Performers included: legendary vocal group The Coasters, along with artists Karen Akers,Mary Bridget Davies, Corky Hale, Maria Elena Infantino,Sally Kellerman, Bettye Lavette, Melissa Manchester, Billy Stritch, Tommy Tune and Steve Tyrell. Backed by Tyrell's band, the artists performed some of the greatest songs written by Stoller with his longtime lyricist partner Jerry Leiber and others. Quasimodo, the last great unproduced musical by Oliver! composer Lionel Bart, is getting its World Premiere, 50 years after it was written. In a major coup for the King's Head Theatre in London, Quasimodo will play for a 4-week season from last night, 20 March through 13 April 2013.
