Gina Galati’s wonderful Winter Opera company continues its 17th season with Puccini’s Manon Lescaut. This work, which opened in 1893, was Puccini’s first great hit. It was rather daring of Puccini to present this piece, based as it was on a novel that had already been adapted to opera by two other composers—first by Daniel Aubert (1856), and then in a hugely successful work by Jules Massenet 1884.
The final production of San Francisco Opera’s 2023 Fall Season marks the return Gaetano Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love (L’Elisir d’Amore) for a six-performance run at the War Memorial Opera House opening tonight, November 19. Check out production photos here!

Opera Undone: Tosca & La bohème will run at Trafalgar Studios 2 from 5 February to 7 March 2020. Adam Spreadbury-Maher, Artistic Director of the King's Head Theatre, will also direct the production, with musical direction from David Eaton. The King's Head Theatre, following on from the exciting news that the company will be moving in 2018 to a purpose built, permanent space in the heart of Islington Square, and Joe C Brown will present the West End transfer of their sell-out production of Puccini's La boh me. The Dicapo Opera Theatre ends the season with the Dicapo Opera Children's Chorus Concert. The concert included songs of many styles, showcasing the gifted voices of the children's chorus lead by Artistic Director, Diane Martindale. Founded in 1982 by Ms. Martindale, the Dicapo Children's Chorus offers talented children the opportunity to perform in several Dicapo Opera Theatre productions throughout the season. This season the children's chorus was featured in the productions of Puccini's 'La Boheme' and Menotti's 'The Saint of Bleeker Street'.
Takesha Meshé Kizart will make her Met debut as Musetta in Puccini's La Bohème on October 16. She also sings performances on October 20, 23, 28, November 1, and 5, replacing Kristine Opolais, who has withdrawn.
